new toadstool

wondering if anything is wrong with my new toadstool. its all closed up and seems to be slumped over. its been in the tank for a day and now its starting to look as if its peeling at the stalk.

When stressed they will close up and eather look waxy or white. It should shed its skin and open backup, could be days or even a week or better. Put it in a area of med current and not too intense light. You can blow it off with a Turkey blaster to help remove any old skin or detris. If it was exposed to ammonia or mistreated and is on its way out, they just melt and that happens fast, day or two, if that happens take it out right away, but that's not too common.

Mine does this once or twice every month and when it is finished it's twice as big as it was
That means its happy. Do you feed yours?
just did a count, have 25 of the fuzz balls.

I dont target feed it just throw in cyclops and rottefiers twice a week

i wouldnt worry about it shriveling up. i have seen this on mine at differnt times. most frequently they do this when moved from a tank to another tank. i think combination of flow, light and water params all contribute. it thinks somethings is wrong and goes into limp mode until it's fully adjusted. i wouldn't even worry if this lasts a week as long as the flesh looks tight and remains attached to the substrate. if it falls off the rock or starts to melt away then i'd worry but then it would be too late to save anyway so why worry.

What would be a sign of melting? Right now little buds are starting to come out the top while the stalk looks to be pealing. its still limping. ill try and get an uodated pic on

Ok will do. Thanks

if it's continuing to get smaller then it's dying. if it's tight but same size from one day to another it's molting so just wait for it to get happy again.

Yea i guess its just molting than. Its not getting smaller and im seeing more buds on the head now than earlier today

I read something that said you should feed them cyclopeeze. How would i go about doing that? And how often should i?

i wouldn't bother any target feeding. their polyps are so small i reaylly don't think they even require feeding. You'll see what i mean when it comes out finally. target feeding imho is more for LPSs. Others may differ in opinion but all of my softies be it toadstools, devil's hand, spaghetti leather etc don't really require target feeding. i really only feed LPSs i have and very seldom at that.

I just let it go in the water column they will get the food they need. I have never target fed anything and it's all happy
