Photobucket users - READ THIS

Seems like photobucket has become pretty popular with folks on this site! One thing, if you insert images using the default code, it makes your posts difficult to read for users on mobile phones because it leaves the forum and opens the image in a browser.

And the fix is simple! Here's an example:

[URL="http://s223.photobucket.com/user/cabj1970/media/1bcb69e7-e3b7-4e67-8536-aa6b206fc516_zps5996daca.jpg.html"][IMG]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/cabj1970/1bcb69e7-e3b7-4e67-8536-aa6b206fc516_zps5996daca.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

Just remove the [URL] tags!

Then the images open correctly for both web and mobile users

Jason, I was wondering what this change was. I noticed this about a month ago, what use to be only “IMG” code was now both “URL” and “IMG” together. For the most part I’ve been deleting the “URL” part off the code. Just make sure you erase all the nonsense at the front of the code and the one little “URL” at the end of the code.

Yup, that's right Paul. I was fixing my first post so folks could see the code they should fix. What a wonderful world it will be without those URL tags!

I've been using photobucket for several years and never had this problem. I usually just copy the IMG link and paste. I've not noticed where they have changed it.

That said I have noticed many threads where you exit TapATalk and enter the browser. It's very annoying and to be honest if it happens, I've pretty much just moved on to the next topic.

I've been using Dropbox instead lately myself. Not only is it much easier to upload, you can set it up to sync with your PC... so if you ever change the image (but keep the same name) it will sync up and the viewers will see the changes without doing anything extra.

With photobucket, when I used to re-upload a revision, it would add extra characters to the name and make it a new file, as opposed to replacing the old one... which meant that I had to also redo all the links in the posts.

Plus, there's no ads to look at while doing it all.

This was a big deal for me while I was updating the frag swap floor plan on an almost daily basis! Dance

I just upgraded to Tapatalk 2, and they fixed the issue so it doesn't bounce out to Safari for these images... Yay! Worth the upgrade.
