Shluzer's 120

I had several (blue chromis bullied by bigger male) and antheas (also bullied) and male clown (also bullied by female) dissapear completely, without even the trace of remains or skeletons. How often this happens ?

More often than you'd think with a green brittle star in the tank. Personally I'd put that starfish in the sump.

wow, I'm impressed with your carpentry skills, good job!
Thanks.
What makes the work much easier is having some power tools - in my case - miter saw for fast cuts,
corded circular saw (cordless dies too fast),
2 wireless drills - one for drilling pilot holes and second for driving screws, electric sander.
I could've used a jigsaw, but for now I get by with reciprocating saw for wavy cuts.
Also, I use circular saw for long straight cuts, where table saw would work better.
Otherwise, I'm a practical (fast/primitive) carpenter and I consider my carpentry skills well below average.
I've seen people doing real cabinet-making, and at this time I can't afford the time to achieve such perfection.

So far my new tank has been setup for several months and all fish are accounted for.
Also, that starfish is very active and entertaining(especially during the feedings).

Noticed that corals distressed (kenya tree and toadstool shrunk, SPS light color,...), checked Ca, Mg, Ammonia,PO4, all OK. Then checked TDS in my RODI container, it was 35. Checked current output of RODI, it is 0. Therefore, sometime ago water was really bad (or could storing it in Brute be bad? - I have powerhead submerged there to move water out when needed). I've drained my RODI container and filled it with new RODI water (used for top-off and to fill in saltwater container for mixing change water). Already see great improvement in corals state.

Another puzzle - I have 2 rocks with bright-green star polyp. They are on the bottom next to each other. They are parts of same parent colony. Usually they were synchronized - opened at the same time. Last couple days one is fully opened, and one - all retracted - just purple skin on the rock. Why?

Question: I got 10 new frags, and for the first couple days lowered the intensity of my 200W LED by %50.
All SPS look OK, with good PE. Derasa clam on the bottom is also fully opened. Does it mean that I could keep it at %50? it is also easier on eyes , better colors than at %100.

Thanks for your answers and comments.

The LEDs are way more powerful then we know IMO. We always judge them agaisnt what we are used to , mostly T-5 & MH with those VHO dihards like Mr Lang. I'd say leave it at 50% and tweak it up till it's pleasing to your taste.

I've got three clams, a Crocea and two Maxima's sitting in the substrate, under 120W LED's, and doing great. Good SPS growth and PE, so I would think that running your 200W at 50% to 60% would be fine.

Recently acquired a bunch of SPSs, need advice:
Could you please name these and if possible list placement requirements (if they could be neighbors with others, light, flow...). Thanks.

I've also got a pair of mocha clowns from steamman (thanks).
They are doing fine, hosting the corner of the tank (so far ignore both GBTA and RBTA ).
I think female started to put eggs on the glass. They look like white triangles about 1/16" in transparent shell.
I'm not sure if that is them, cause those 'eggs' appear in several places in the tank.
Probably male is too small to understand what to do with those eggs.
During the day time female kinda 'ignores' the male and he is following her around most of the time.
At night (after the lights are out), I've witnessed different picture - it looked like they were kissing !?! (will try to capture it on camera next time).
Anyone saw this behavior also ?

Bad news - Boy (of the mocha clowns pair from steamman) went carpet surfing.

Good news- got new boy clown, small false ocellaris from LFS and they not only paired-up nicely, they started to host my red BTA. For some reason, no interest in my old GBTA (which was hosted for long time by my previous couple of false ocellaris).

Bad news - have GHA (and some aptasia). RBTA moved and extended so much that it covered #8 piece (combo of 2 SPS - bird nest and ?) and one of them bleached (red birdnest) almost completely, i've relocated the frag, and broken off small piece of it trying to save it, some polyps are still there, but very light colored. Any chance of it coming back? I have other birdnest, but that one is too dark and not as bright as the one that bleached.
Also some purple algae (with bublles ) starts to choke the watermellon chalice (#10). So I'm not sure if it will survive. I've moved that chalice closer to light (LED) . It's not dying, but not growing either.

Have many green hair-like worms in sand. Some of them climb the glass. Does any fish eat them? I have green mandarin for couple months, but I haven't seen him eat those worms. Also have couple gobies, but I see them rarely, so not sure what they eat. Also, have melanarus wrasse, it is fat, though not sure what it eats besides when it comes out of sand for morning feedings.

Alex, the combo frag is 2 birds nests, ORA green birdsnest and ORA hyacinth; the hyacinth may come back for you in time.

I don't know if you moved the corals ever since you taken the pics of the SPS's but I think corals 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are set to close to each other. I did this mistake and now they don't have any room to grow.
