Skimmer problem

No. The other side with the gate valve should be the clean water side, unless the valve is on the wrong side.
What didn't work? Is the air valve fully open? Take off the valve on the end of the air line for testing.

Thanks everyone for the help. In speaking with Mike came to realize that niether skimmer is working properly because I don't have a needle wheel pump. The Berlin started skimming a little but took almost two hours. The other skimmer is now setup correctly but also needs a needle wheel.

Don't worry about switching the pump around. My skimmer is the same with the gate valve at the bottom. Good thing about that is micro bubbles are zero. Not sure if that is the reason exactly as I have a recirculating skimmer but if it works .

mine does not have a needle wheel the air intake port in that pump must be clogged
