Sweepers

Well, it's nap time for the kids, wind is howling here in hillsborough and I am doing a mental note of what the tree guys need to take this march! I guess that's what you get for having woods for neighbors! Alass I digress.

I know I have seen and been warned of the aggressiveness of some corals. Well, I got a gumdrop chalice from Dr Mac about 5 months ago. Some would have called it a boogersnot sized frag....I say dime sized. Well 5 months later and it is silver dollar sized and putting out new eyes like no tomorrow. Have seen some of its sweepers at night, no big deal at most 2 inches. Well....6 inches down stream I have the pink lemonade acro. I noticed 2 pinpoints of dead spots on the encrusting plug. Well last night I found out why, the sweepers on the chalice are over 6 inches long!! Now I realize 2 days ago I accidentally tipped it and broke an edge (chalice) I guess I really got it ticked. I am just stunned by the length of those sweepers!!

Yes, I moved the lemonade and while the storm is on I, like red fish blue fish ( also being Irish) am enjoying my bourbon on ice! Cheers, and like a Dos equi commercial " stay thirsty my friends". Be safe to all!

That gumdrop, I believe is very similar to the Hollywood stunner which is well named. Those sweepers can get long. Six inches though. Wow.

Power went out 10min ago. House generator working like a commercial! My wife felt it was an expense....not now. It is a rare moment when the wife says, " you were right"!

Congratz on being right! Wow, 6" sweepers? I didn't realize they could get that long on a chalice.

George it is that species of chalice that gets really long sweepers, I believe it goes by mycedium. Most chalices have sweepers, but not as long or aggressive as the mycedium.
