    BRS 4 stage RODI unit

Good stuff to know. I just bought my first RO/DI (the BRS 4-stage PLUS) on this group buy. I got the color-changing DI resin, so that's pretty much a no-brainer on when to change, but was also curious on when to change the sediment and carbon blocks out. I only have a 34gl tank, so my WC is...

    Lighting question

I am running an older AI Sol Blue over my Solana 34. As far as lighting goes, I haven't had any problems with the Sol, and depending on what intensity I set the W/B/RB to, and where I place the corals, they seem to do well. I've had a Blueberry Torte, both blue and red shrooms, Hairy shroom, a...

ROFLMAO! ..... When you spend more time aquascaping your tank, then you do landscaping your yard.

    August 2013 Meeting

Been a couple years without my boat as well. Loved coming home after work and hopping in the boat and heading to Oyster Creek or Double Creek channels a couple nights a week. You should still have some decent size fish in the bay Jim. If you're suspecting they're out of the bay, try drifting...

    August 2013 Meeting

Still bigger than the ones I saw them catching down in Ocean City MD this past week. Anyone with a 400g tank, could have stocked it up to the return with all the shorts. Where were you at Jim, Raritan Bay?

    Starting Over..

Why not use the epoxy closest to the return, or put heavier grade of sand or some other form of low profile obstruction under the return? Depending on how you aquascape that area, you can still create the upwelling effect. I may not be seeing how your setup is, but just some suggestions.

    Father’s Day Fish

I wonder if it can reproduce. I probably wouldn't husk the fry, as that'll be their only protection. Would be interesting to see how it fairs in a tank with a Mantis.

    Stippled clingfish

Interesting. The first pic (the one from Google), looks like a small oyster cracker/toad fish. Definitely wouldn't want one of them in my tank!

    Grr mantis shrimp

We used to catch these all the time in Hawai'i, on hook and line. Apparently they are highly aggressive, going after lures. Based on that (and the videos I've seen on YouTube), I would say whatever you put in the trap, make sure it has some kind of movement to attract its attention. Maybe a...

Some feel good news for a change...

Just read that article. Hope things work out for him, and he does better than that "announcer voice" guy that got his shot at fame and then went back on the bottle.

I would love to know if this is reef safe

This seems like a souped-up version of Rain-X. I wonder if dipping the impellers on pumps would have any effect. Maybe coating the outer pump covers would help reduce algal buildup? It would seem like a practical product, but I have to question some of their demonstrations vs claims. In the...
