Luckily, I have avoided that. I think early on, I caught it just as the nem got to the powerhead.
My clown has always had GBTA's. The last one I had split about 5 times in just as many months with the mamma being about 9". Maybe I'll try out a RBTA when i'm ready.
I had a vortech but sold that as well. I'm using a Koralia and will add another off brand one I have soon. I know what you're getting at and I used a fine mesh (screen) to protect them from wandering into the pumps.
I did not notice any spikes. I had sold just about every coral I had off when I broke the 75 down. There were a few surviving hairy mushrooms that are already coloring back up with the new lighting. Other than that, nothing for the time being.
I migrated everything that was in my 20L over to the 58 this past weekend. My gold banded maroon has almost always had some form of BTA that it took to within 5 minutes of introducing. She has been without an anemone for months and I would like to get her another one. Should I wait a little...
I might not add anything else till I decide what to do with the stripers. Here is what's in there.
1 x Gold Banded Maroon Clown (had for 5 years) Queen of the tank
1 x Staghorn Damsel (5 years) Bully 2nd in command
2 x 3-striped black and white damsels (less than a year because I didnt want...
Note that my light will raise as I finish adding water so the spread will be a little more that whats seen in those pics.
I will also add that removing the 90 degree optics is just the same as having 120 optics. With that said, I would get 90. Or if you want, order 90 with 120 around the outside.
Take a look at the pics I just posted today.

That's the Photon24 with 90 degree optics 8" above the water line. My tank is the same dimentions as the 40 breeder...just higher (I think).
I glanced over on the ReefBreeders forum on RC to see if there were any reccomendations and the only ones I could find were ones stating that the Photon24 (the one I have) would do. I would contact Logan from ReefBreeders directly and he's usually good at responding pretty quickly.
It was just weird the way he said it. "Oh, it was just a random ship out." Makes me wonder how much money they lose from that happening. No complaints from me though. I guess i'll store it till I get some mag demanding corals .
Just got off the phone with them and the guy just said to keep it. Took my name and email down and that was it. He called it a "random ship out". Sounded like it's not an uncommon thing. LOL Why couldnt have been a couple of Vortech's? (although i'm sure they would have made me send THOSE...
