had 4 corals bleach out due to a heat spike......so angry right now because the tank was looking so good and everything was growing nice since the rebuild following "Ireene"....just figured out my termomiter was off by 4 degrees
tank was at 88 for 2 days while i was away...did a water change and...
my tank has been running very warm lately and with the summer weather comming i was thinking of getting a chiller to help regulate the temp.
the tank is a red sea max 65 gal all in one and the temp has been around 84* durring the last week....

i have been rebuilding after the disaster Irene left behind and decided to re-cook my rock to get gid of the biologicals and hair algea covering the rockwork.....what i did is remove the rock from the tank and put it in a 50 /50 mix of old tank water and newly mixed s/w in a 30 gal garbage can...
thanks for the sugestions..
.the rock was in my display tank and the red gracilaria grew like a weed, covering most of the rock structure then after Irene it got covered in hair algeas. so i want to clean the rock completely and dont want the chance that a few strands survive and cover the rock...
i have a batch of my old rock that is covered in red gracilaria and i have tried everything. no light , trie to pull it off and scrubbed the rock....... no luck yet ...it just wont die off.
the rock has been sitting in a fresh batch of salt water with a heater set at 86 and no light for 2...
