    Help Sandstorm !!!!

I guess you bought a fine sand grade, well it will eventually settle. I don’t think anything detrimental will happen. You will want to blow the sand off the rocks when everything returns to normal.

    Fans VS. Chillers

Chiller vote here, I have T5's and I still needed a chiller. Anyway as mentioned earlier, it’s just the best way to stabilize water temperatures.

What skimmer for a 120 with a 40 breeder sump?

I wouldn’t try and save money on the skimmer, I would only go high end on this purchase. I have a lifeReef skimmer and it’s awesome. I am reading good things about Octopus skimmers. Listed below are a few high end skimmers. Just depends on how much cash you’re willing to part with. Bubble King...

    New T-5 Lights Advice.

I would think so but if you’re really worried about it place a piece of eggcrate over the tank.

    Transfering to a new tank

I think you misunderstood this but he isn’t curing live rock he is switching his tank out. This will take some time since he is putting the tank in the same space. He can tear everything down and set the new system up and make sure there aren’t any problems. With my luck I always end up with...

    Transfering to a new tank

When I was curing stuff like rock and switching my tank over. I soaked the garbage can with water and bleached it for an hour. I then rinsed it well with soap and water and then dried it with paper towels. I then let it sit outside on a sunny day to allow the sun to bleach it as well. I then...

    Transfering to a new tank

Get a big garbage can or two depending on your tank size and cure it. Then take some tank water and place put in the can and start adding the rock. You will need to do this a little bit at a time so you keep your rock underwater, now it will be nice and easy to catch your fish and place them in...

    lateral line not going away

Wow, you're thinking about a Clarion; way pricey. I had a Queen angelfish and that was a nice fish as well. As for the Hippo, not a big fan they are scared of their own shadows and are prone to HLLE and Ich. I don’t have any hands on experience with the other fish you mentioned.

    Something attacking our starfish

I had the same thing happen to one of my brittle stars where you can see all of its organs and I have no idea why but he was fine in a week. It just grew back and is still chillin in my tank.

    lateral line not going away

I had an Imperator Angelfish and the fish was so cool, what a personality on this fish. They aren’t timmed and they are beautiful. I know you see them everywhere but they are nice angels. What are looking for and how much are you willing to spend? If you are willing to see a loan officer for...

    lateral line not going away

I agree you have a small tank for the fish you mentioned and you are feeding them 3 times a day. I also read that you are doing a lot of water changes which is good but are you keeping up? I would reduce feeding two once a day. I am strong believer that HLLE is caused by water quality. BTW what...

Hello Reef Geeks, My friends call me Gecko, I live in Point Pleasant Beach NJ and I have kept saltwater fish for around 20 years. A couple of years ago I switched my fish only tank over to a reef tank. I switched from a skimmerless canister filter to a more modern approach being the Berlin...
