I use Oceanic and love it. I started out with Reef Crystals and had alk issues with it. Since I switched and did some fine tuning, everything has been A-OK!.
The only thing that would concern me with a halide over a 10 gallon tank is heat. As long as you keep it high enough off the water and have good air flow, I would say that it would be a great lighting system.
I took the plumbing off my AGA 15 gal tank and am using a Whisper 40 for mechanical filteration with Pura Complete and Chemi Pure in it. I also use a Maxi Jet 900 for very nice movement and surface break. Since I got rid of the sump and started using the HOB filter, my water became crystal clear...
I have a 15 gal nano with 2 firefish who snuggle, a baby yellow tang, a checkered sandsifting goby, 2 black mexican turbo snails, 4 tonga hermits, a coral banded shrimp, and a sally lightfoot crab. I keep a Sebae anenome, green hammer, zoos, purple finger leather, aqua devils hand, 5 frags of...
I have a coralife 24" system. 130 watts 65 10k/ 65 antinic over a 15 gal. nano. All my digi is in the top 1/3 of the tank. They are all within 10" of the light. Is your calcium over 400? Do you use Phyto or other feeding additives for the coral? I use DTs live phyto. I also have 0 ammonia...
My tank has very good growth with PCs. Since the last meeting where I got a frag pack from the club, every piece has new branches each about 1/8" long. Thats about 1/4" a month on Digi. I am expecting this to be more now that the coral is out of transport shock and the color is back.

Ich can go dormant for 6 months or more, it is virtualy impossible to get rid of it. Best thing to do is put on a UV filter to try and keep it in check.
At the 10" range it doesn't really matter what bulb you use because all bulbs can penetrate that depth. Flourescent tubes have the least amount of penetration, roughly 16-18" max. PC can penetrate up to about 20-22". On a 24" or higher tank, you want Halides to penetrate.
I personally would...
Thanks for all the input everyone. I think my light is in the "just enough to keep it alive" section. I will look into the flood light maybe this weekend. I will say though, I have pods and worms going crazy in my fuge as is.
Just curious as to what lighting people use over their Cheato. I am currently using the Coralife ColorMax 10 watt self ballasting PC. Makes my tank look like it has pink neons at night :-[.
