Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not necessarily. Its hard to guess what it may be. Reefs are a lot more sensitive then fish only. It may be coincidence and be something entirely different. IMO, actual levels come secondary to stability.
You said your alk was 6.8 then you raised it to 8 and now it is back down to 6.8. Could be your alk swings are irritating everything. I would try to keep everything where it is for a few days and let everything recover. A doser might be the best solution with your work schedule. It will cut down...
Well the T5s just went off and all I can say is wow. Anything with red or orange in it is just glowing. Now I know what I miss about LEDs. Heres hoping for the best of both worlds.
Its a total of 55 Mixed blue from 420 to 480. Very little effect with the ATI 8x60 T5s on. I was looking for a little more "POP".
At least all it cost me was time. I had all the pieces to try it. Makes a beautiful sunset effect though.
They are on aconductive surface but I tested them with 2 batteries and they all lit up. How did PaulB attach his to his copper pipes? Did he use a insulator?
I took it off a board with 24 LEDs and hooked it up to 24. I'm not an electrical engineer in the least but am trying to muddle my way through this.
I'm going to try re soldering them in series and see if that works. I burnt out my soldering iron last night so have to get a new one.
Yes it was going to a board. I have it going straight to the LEDs. Someone on another site said it had to be wired in series not parallel. I started rewiring it but my soldering iron burnt out.
I took apart my old Ocean Revive S026 and tried to use the parts to make a six foot long LED bar to compliment my T5s. I wired all the LEDs together in 2 groups of 24 just as the lights were. I checked them with a pair of "AA" batteries and everything looked great. When I tried to hook up the...
There is a tremendous amount of information and opinions on these message boards. Sometimes too much. I found it helpful to get a couple of good books to sit and read. I have several that have been very helpful. They may be a little outdated and not up to date on the latest and greatest ways to...
I know people like to put down Jabao for reliability but I just signed into my Fishstreet account to check the dates. I have 2 rw-20s running from November 2014 and 1 wp-60 running from January 2014. For $80 a pump I think they are well worth the money. The wp-60 needs more maintenance then the...
I had the Ocean Revive and there schematic was posted on there website so I knew what colors were out. The were all either 420 or 450s Im pretty sure you can order the same 3w leds from Amazon at a cheaper price.
I eventually gave up on the fictures because they would continually burn out. I...
The only thing to really look out for is alligning the polarity correctly. There is a "+" and "-" to each diode and it must be placed in the proper orientation. You can use a "AA" battery and some wires to see which side is which. It will only light when + from the battery is aligned with + on...
I went through the same issue and @Chrisgarrick showed me how to replace them. I bought a selection of blues from Reefbreeders.com and swapped them out with a soldering iron. Its a good time to adjust your spectrum at the same time if you want to.
If your looking for bright I found the Aquablue Special too bright for my tank. I have 2 60" ones sitting in the garage. I went with mostly Blue + and a couple of coral +
