MY New Red Sea Max 250

Hey John- welcome! I've used reeftopia in the past, they offer some real cool critters and they are reasonable as far as pricing goes which includes shipping (over a certain price) if you can't wait for the group buy, you can always use that as an option. The group buys are an excellent way to...

Help needed to start corals in 75G FOWLR tank

You may benefit more with flourescents such as t5s to begin with. Vho lamps are a good second choice and is dependent on what you want to keep. If you go the halide route, you will need two sets since there is a plastic brace above the 75, which ups your costs a bit and in addition to the heat...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

Jim, yes I've tried raising an emperor myself- they are non stop eating machines which is a great thing especially for angels. I had the ability to get the fish as a juvenile but once he started nipping on my efflo, I made the hard decision to let him go. The emperor now resides in Taz's tank...

    Regal Angelfish Feeding Question?

It's been a bit since you posted, any luck with the regal? They are very finicky eaters indeed, did it eat when it was at the LFS? You can try live Blackworms to get him feeding, or if you have access to live brine shrimp, that may start him too. Nothing like a "livey" to get them started, do...

The universe must be aligned just right.

Hormones my friends, hormones are in the water! three things that could lead to that: -a change in water chemistry that lead to near perfect water conditions which stimulate their reproductive capabilities -a change in water chemistry that triggers self preservation thereby creating a...

    Liverock help

I had a hair algae battle once, and it was pretty aggravating to deal with. The only solution that worked for me, unfortunately, was completely taking all the rocks out removing the corals and placing them in a holding tank, scrubbing the rocks completely with a wire brush, scraping all the...

    Heaters???

Heaters are always a plus in keeping temperature on point as possible. I always have mine on and plugged in even in the summer with a set point of 74 degrees just in case the tank drops to that level from air conditioning and colder days/nights when I open the windows.
