I removed some rock. Cleaned the sand bed. About 1/3 and did a water changed. I moved a lot of rocks and corals around so I did a second water change two days later. All seems well and corals are springing back to life. Thanks to all for your help. Now I need to get rid of some nuisance palys. I...
That picture is a few months old. I do have some coral die off now. I lost half of the lobo, some stalks on the frogspawn and some other decline as well. Thats what is prompting me to take action. I did have a few fish die in the last month as well. I am unable to reach them for removal...
Thank you both for the reply. My problem is if I move some of the rock I may be forced to move most if not all because of the way I have it stacked. I surely need to simplify my rock work and use less of it. I fear a crash if I upset too much of the sand bed but it could be unavoidable. I will...
I think my real question here is... Do you advise removing all of the rock to clean house. I might consider leaving some out when I re decorate the tank. I have about 65 lbs in a 54 gal tank.
Thank you for the reply. There was no visible sign of disease on the fish and no real aggression. Half of the sand bed is either covered by rock or unaccessible due to the rock preventing me from accessing those bare sand areas. IF I have to move the rock I will need to take a lot of it out and...
After a great summer its time to focus on the tank more. I did manage to keep up with maintenance and bi weekly water changes but did have a few losses over the summer. I lost my Yellow tang, tomato clown and a PJ cardinal. Unfortunately they ended up buried in the rock work and I have not been...
Its true the hobby and husbandry keeps changing but I still find myself going back to some of the older books which still have some relevant information. Martin Moe being the most valid for me.
I figured that many others had the same problem. It was a new learning experience for me so I thought I would share. I like the idea of running both the skimmer and the return pump in vinegar. Probably not a bad idea to run the power heads in vinegar as well. Live and learn.
I was having issues with my skimmer where suddenly I had to start adjusting the flow valve. I did reach out to Coralvue on RC but we never figured out the issue. Thanks to Mike over at Captivating Coral. He advised there was calcium build up in the section where the air hose goes into the...
AW... dont say that... Say it aint so. I am surprised I have not seen them in the past. I check my tank just about every night with a flash light. They ugly for sure
Thank you all. I guess I will do my research but will pull out whatever I see. Is there an easy way to eradicate? As if anything is easy in this hobby.
Crap sorry to hear that. Maybe I should come out there and walk on your back. That should fix you up. All kidding aside I hope things work out really soon. You are in my prayers my friend.
Rob, I got used to the Logic, I did cough at first too but you get used to it. They taste nasty just like the real thing. We have to be crazy smoking cigs. Give me a buz when you can, maybe this weekend we can take a look at the tank. I am good early Saturday if you are.
Hey Tony. I just started using the Logic brand. I like it compared to others. You get good flavor and a whole lot of smoke/vapor. Its the best ive tried so far out of three different brands. It is a little heavy though. I hope you are doing better than the last we spoke.
