I finally got my extensions today for the SSS 1000. One thing I notice is the valve is 95% open to get the water level up and tuning has become very critical. Have you experienced the same. I did a complete clean out of the skimmer just prior to adding the two extensions. So far I don't have any...
I like the idea of changing water through the sump.My problem with that is I have a corner tank and can only fit a 10 gal tank under the stand. At most after the tank drains I only have about 6 gallons in the sump. My skimmer takes up half the space or more. The good news is I still having...
That's sounds like excellent advise and I will absolutely follow it. I'll start this weekend and let you know what the out come is after a month or so. Glad to here I can store the water over an extended period. BTW. This is all in preparation to start trying my hand at some acros. Right now i...
I was thinking of changing to a weekly regiment. I am a bit of a maintenance freak so it works for me. My concern is how long the salt mix can stay in the pail. I keep it covered in my garage. Typically I'll make the ro add salt and agitate and heat the water for a day or two prior to the water...
Thanks All for the reply. The tank looks good. The only reason I asked is I actually calculated the amount of water I have been changing. I originally thought I was doing 20% but came to find it was actually 30%. I am in the process of gradually switching salt brands from Reef Crystals to...
I am doing a 30% water change every two weeks. Is this too much. Is there such a thing as too much when it comes to water changes? What is your opinion.
John. I was at your house and picked up some chalices from you. I have a friend that may be interested. I remember the tank. I'll let him know its a great deal and in good shape. I'll let you know if he is serious about it.
Where did you pick up the neck extensions. I have a SSS 1000 and skimming about the same as you are. I thought it was pretty good based on my low bio load. I'd like to get a few of those extensions though. Thanks.
I have a nice colony of both Frogspawn and Hammer corals that I would like to frag and trade. May also be willing to cut up the War coral you see in the pic with the hammer. I am not sure how to frag these so I would rely on your experience to help with that. Let me know if interested and what...
Thank you all. Trop is much closer for me. Ill go take a look at that. Mike brings up a very good point though. I could probably set up a much better system with all high end equipment for that price. I still question the quality of the components especially the skimmer and sump set up.
Does anyone out there have one of these or heard any feedback about them. It looks like a really cool system just not sure if its to good to be true. Are the components reliable and of the quality you would expect at that price. I was looking at the 175 gallon model...
