I have always used an Aqua 15w. Its been running on my reef tank for the last year and ran for 5 years on my FOLWR. I never had ick or any bacterial related problems. I always thought "it cant hurt". And it hasn't.
Ok. One more question. Is it the glass silicon that's messed up or the overflow. Not sure I can re silicone the glass. I'd image the whole tank would need to be redone.
I have the panorama pro 24". It's doesn't get rave reviews nor does it have any bells and whistles. But it is dimable and fits my tank well (54 gal corner). My corals are growing well and the tank looks very good. I keep the blue lights at 80% and the white at 30%. Sometimes I think I'm the...
Seems like the issues are with all of the rios in that series. I used a 1700 for 5 years in my sump but now using it as a water change pump. Unfortunately I dont have any impellers left for it.
The typical problem with the rio 1700 is that the ceramic shaft breaks or the hole in the magnet gets egg shaped. They use very little power but need to be cleaned frequently and have the impeller replaced every two years or so. I always keep an extra impeller or two on hand. I get them from...
I agree. Along with the treatment I also did a 3 day lights out, cut back on feeding and stopped using Marine snow and switched to Fuel and minimum use of reef roids. I also stopped feeding formula one frozen concoctions and the like and stuck with slow pellet feeding for fish. I also change my...
I had a really bad case of this about six months ago. Someone recommended I use a product called chemiclean. It took two or three doses with a water change after each dose but it worked wonders hasn't been back yet.
Exactly. It's stopped looking line a blastso a few months ago. I'll take another picture when it's not inflated. It's a blasto for sure. I have other blastso in the tank that all look normal. Trying to figure out what happened to this.
I've had this single blasto head for over a year. It's about the size of a quarter when the lights are out. But after the lights come on it blows up about 3 times the size and gets all these bubbles around the edges. Of course most corals expend when healthy but this thing looks deformed.
Thank you both. I thought that may be the case. I am in the process of switching to Aqua vitro now anyway. Will take a few months as I am doing it gradually.
I was reading that storing mixed salt water for extended periods could cause organics in the salt to die off. Particularly in salts like reef crystals. I have witnessed this myself. I notice after a few days there was some brown matter floating on top of the water. I would just scoop it out and...
The skimmer is producing really well. The extensions were really worth the investment. What a great improvement on an already great skimmer. I'm very happy with the results. Glad I got involved with this post and thats why I really dig this forum. Thanks All.
