Found the culprits lastnite. Found about a dozen small nudibranchs on them. So, I fw dipped both and put them in QT. Something I put in the tank must of had eggs on them. Now for the waiting game........
So with all pumps off, even after 10-15 minutes, you still see bubbles rising in the tank? How old is the tank? How deep is the sand? Whats the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels? Might just be nitrogen gas.
gfo was changed after I noticed the shedding.
SPS,LPS and softies all well spaced carbon gets replaced every week. GFO every 2-3 weeks. Weekly 20% water changes, well maybe every 2 weeks. ;) I'll try lowering them down a bit.
I have two birdsnest colonies. One pink tip and one blue tip. Over the weekend, it appears both are shedding an outer layer. I havent really seen polyp extension either. But both still have color, albeit a little white. My other acros and monti's appear fine as well as everything else in the...
Hmmmmmm.....
You said its a AGA90RR. I assume it came with the return pipe and lineloc. If thats what you are using, check the top of the return stand pipe. They have a small anti siphon hole in them. Make sure while the pumps are running that this hole is submerged.
I would also take a bright...
If a pump cavitates, it means its inlet or outlet is being restricted. You said you were using hose barbs. They are very restrictive. Their bore is much smaller than the pipe of the same size. What size pipe and how many bends are you using?
Do you see bubbles in the return section of the sump? If not then it sounds like the pump might be cavitating. Try putting a "t" in line and a valve and dump some water back into the sump.
Just a side note, I find a over, under, over trap works much better.

You can also check some of the wood mills in your area. Sometimes they have old sheets in their racks that they will let go for a song and a dance.
No, an ASOV does NOT require a tank. The pressure build up from the closed float valve is enough. It does however require descent pressure from the water source. 40 psi if I am not mistaken. Also the membrane will continue to make waste water as long as the water source is available. So if you...
Rich,
You actually cant compare any of those easily to one another.
Lumen is a measure of perceived power of a light source.
Lux is a measure of that perceived power of a light source that illuminates an area
Par is a measure of that perceived power of a light source that illuminates an area...
The T6 bulb was made to fit a standard T12/T8 fixture but at the T5 efficiency. I haven't seen many T6 bulbs for this hobby. But if you are looking to get a new fixture. Just go with the T5.
Whats your water pressure going into the membrane? The higher end membranes are rated at 50psi, the lower cost units are rated at 65psi and higher. If your water pressure is low going in, the production will be slower.
0 from RO/DI. I run a Filmtec 75gpd membrane. I have rather clean well water that is typically <100ppm. If I see a creep after the DI, then I will check the incoming and out from the membrane. I know this membrane has a 98% rejection rate. So if I see less than that, then I will try a long (30...
