I can clean them up and they will be back the next day. You can see them almost grow once the lights come on.
I think the glass is staying clean because of the flow in the tank. There seems to be some discrepancies but I have read that the brown/orange/gold on the sand is actually the skeletal...

Since the end of August I have been fighting diatoms on the sand bed. Brown/orange (rust colored) dusting. It pretty much dies off over night then starts up again the next photo period.

You can bend plastic tubing by first filling the tubing with sand, then heat it up with a hair dryer for the small stuff or a propane torch for thicker tubing. The sand will prevent it from crimping at the bend.
Turn inside out, wash in washer with bleach, no soap. A second rinse cycle. Air dry for at least a week before using. As long as you don't smell bleach on it, you'll be good.
Anything with electricity running through it whether it is in or near the water can induce a voltage. What you dont want is for that voltage to provide a current. If your VOM has an amperage setting, run one from the water to the ground lug. If it measures anything near or above 1ma (milliamp)...
One other note that Neptune doesnt list anywhere. The AC Jr is limited to 40 lines of programming. Not sure what the limit of the AC3 is but I know it is significantly more.
yup,
calcium and magnesium (the hardness in well water) doesnt flush too well from a membrane. The softener replaces them with sodium, and the sodium flush pretty well from a membrane.
With those lower numbers it really doesnt matter. When the numbers are up in the 200-300 and higher range it can make a big difference. In either case though trials have shown with well water its better to have it after the softener. This is because the softener can get rid of more than the...
Those numbers are perfectly normal. I have the same issue here. A water softener exchanges calcium and magnesium with sodium. This is why you add salt (sodium chloride) to your softener. Its exchanging one for the other. So it is entirely possible to see a higher tds after the softener.
I have a bluejaw in mine and have zero problems with him. All the smaller fish hang out with him. He bothers nothing. He will even eat out of my hand. He would let me pick him right out of the water if I wanted too. He has a great personality. Very docile. Even visits the cleaner shrimp for a...
Unfortunately until the governments learn to take on the responsibility of sustaining the lands and life around them while preserving the ecosystems, the entire argument is moot. The people as a whole wont do it without leadership. And businesses still need to meet the bottom line day after day...
Didn't hear in the video how often he does water changes. Also I didnt see any snails, hermits or any cleanup crew other than the bottom feeding fish. Wonder what is maintenance schedule looks like. Too many questions my head is going to explode. Definitely got my attention.
Very interesting...
As dan said above.....use a peristaltic pump but get one rated for 24/7 use not intermittent use and one that can provide the rate you need.
see: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-05/sh/feature/index.php
there is a section on feed pumps....
I would think you should be able to get much better numbers with mag at 1200. Use the two part only to maintain. Supplement individually to bring each part up to where it should be.
