    Weird question but.....

VOM set to ac....one lead in water, one lead in ground of electrical socket. I would wear gloves and rubber soled boots when doing this.

    Sera Magnesium plus

ok some quick math show's it should be about 24,000ppm concentration. You could use the reef chemistry calculator @ http://jdieck1.home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chemcalc.html Use Randy's Recipe in the product box. What ever it gives you as an answer, double it for the Sera Magnesium Plus.

    Sera Magnesium plus

Does it say any where what the concentration is? I have heard 1600ppm for hair algae but not 1800ppm.

70psi is fine.......really anywhere from 45-80 is fine, with 60-80 being best.

Drip drip drip from my bulkhead

Only real way is to start over, new bulkhead etc. With bulk heads, I usually get spares and use the extra nuts over the end where the slip is or the same with internal threads. The walls on them tend to be thinner and by using the extra nuts it prevents cracks.

    Tank frustrations still

With the parameters you gave in the other thread, it may be precip. Get those stable and see what happens.

    Ca reactor not keeping up

You could use just epsom salt and ro water as long as you only use it this one time to bring it up. 8 cups of epsom and enough RO to make 1 gallon. Shake thoroughly. Then you'll need about 2600ml of this to bring you up to 1350ppm. You can get epsom salt almost anyplace. If you keep using just...

NO, not since your other levels are so low.

    Ca reactor not keeping up

what the 100,000ppm means is that only 10% of the solution is actual mag. The rest is sulfates, chlorides and water. Probably close to 60%-70% water if not more depending on what the actual mag they are using. So for your 120 gallons you need about 123ml of pure mag to boost your levels. So...

    Ca reactor not keeping up

I dont think so. 100,000ppm is pretty darn high for a mag supplement. I would really like to see if it raises your mag to the calculated levels using the calculations I gave you. I would really shake the bottle vigorously for quite some time before using too. Kents Tech M is 70,000ppm and...

    Ca reactor not keeping up

Well considering you say you have 120g total system volume and you are using Brightwell's mag. Brightwells claims their product is 100,000ppm. Starting at 1080 ppm and wanting to end at 1350 ppm, you will need about 1250ml of the supplement. You can dose this all at once, but I would highly...

    Hair algae and calcium reactor?

Dolomite is CaMg(Co3)2, its not very soluble as compared to aragonite. So yes the dolomite would require a lower ph to get the same results. In fact much lower. However running a second chamber full of dolomite gives the effluent a chance to pick up some free mag ions. Its one of those its...

    Hair algae and calcium reactor?

OK phyl I am here before you ask this time. This absolutely could be caused from the ca reactor and the low mag.As in the other thread, the calcium, carbonate and magnesium are all related. What wasnt mentioned in the other thread was phosphates. Phosphates can bind to the crystal as well and...

    TDS reading

Where did you take this reading? You should measure the water going into the RO membrane, the water coming out of the RO membrane and the water coming out of the DI. This way you can tell how each stage is operating and how efficiently. Brute trash cans work great for storage. But be sure too...

ETSS Sump Buddy 60 protein skimmer by AETECH

I am using one right now. Completely in sump with a Mag18. I would highly recommend using an external pressure rated pump. With the Mag it gets finicky every once in a while. But I can tell from the bioball tower foam when there isnt enough pressure. Other than that it works great. Plenty of...

    Ca reactor not keeping up

OK Phyl....STC present and accounted for. Mag has two purposes in our tanks. Biological and chemically. So you need it. There. Done. :P Kidding Biologically all life needs mag in some form or another. The main use is in the skeletal structures. Chemically, in our tank we rely on calcium ions...

    Carbon Preferences

That's kind of a blanket statement that's not really true for everyone. You should test the input and output to find what your own personal timeline should be. On my 125g w/55g sump pretty well stocked, I can go for almost a month and a half before changing the carbon in a TLF reactor. This goes...

    RO 1 more try

Yes the valve should be closed when producing RO water. It has a built in restrictor that will bypass the valve when closed creating the back pressure required for the membrane to operate properly. But you should open the valve periodically for a few minutes during and at the end of making RO...
