Continuing my build, looking into media reactors for carbon+GFO. Was looking online and stumbled upon a BRS video and they say you can actually do a mix of carbon and gfo in a single media reactor. With around 2/3rds carbon and the remaining GFO. Just looking to see if anyone does this or knows...
I have one of these...

Thats what im talking about using. Sorry if i didnt make sense
I think im going to just go with the glassholes overflow, which isn't siphon. But im thinking about using a hob return just to save me from having to drill another hole and a few extra bucks. Just seeing if anyone knows of any problems that would come with using the hob u-tube return with a...
No I cannot attend the meeting, we live close enough I can drop it off one day if you still need the 10lbs I can offer. For a 20high you probably could do around 20lbs of sand for about a 1"-1 1/2" sandbed. That's what I used to have in my old 20high. So all you need is another 10lbs for a nice...
Are there any necessary benefits of a drilled return? Drilling one holes creeping me out enough, plus i could save a few dollars and just use the hob u tube with flare nozzle that i have.
I was going to do the same with the 20lb pack but i already had sand. Idk how their sand is but their rock is awesome. I bought some of their mortar too so i can make some solid scapes but haven't used it yet. I'll see how good it is.
I just bought a 40lb bag of some caribsea seafloor special grade sand for my 29g build. I can spare around 10lbs which should be enough for a small standard 10g. If you want it let me know! I can rinse it in some RODI too if you want.
For a 10g your better off just getting a HOB like a AC 70...
Ended up getting 25lbs from macro rocks, extremely happy with the purchase, ended up with a great scape and the rock is awesome. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some dry rock.
If I choose to drill I was going to just use flexible tubing for the whole thing to reduce any issues with hitting the rigid overflow lines and causing it to crack. Ill see if I can find a glass shop around, or maybe I'll find someone local who can drill it. Still need to decide what I want to do.
Well im not comfortable drilling, and the fear of it cracking after its set up is whats really holding me back. If i did the HOB i could do some fail safes like you did with a float switch and minimize flooding or even prevent it. But if it was drilled and it cracks theres nothing stopping the...
So as I'm reaching this stage of my 29gallon build I have to decide which way I want to go. I already have a HOB overflow (Eshopps PF 300) but i keep throwing around the idea of drilling the overflow and return. I'm just nervous to drill the tank and then it cracking, if not when i drill it but...
How big is the colony of cloves? like how many polyps are there.
Maybe me and Juan can work something out, I wouldn't mind traveling if we end up splitting the cost.
Also is the picture in your first post of the cloves from your tank? or found online?
I see they have two different types of rock, did you choose which you purchased? Just reading over their website and saw them describing both.
Edit: Never mind read their page wrong.
