just knock the bubbles off in the hospital tank and have some clean water close and give a good swish. I personally just broke my bubbles off intank and threw them away with no problems.
alot of people seem to use 100-150 micron i personally was using 25micron socks. you would have to vacuum out the fuge every so often if you dont use them since that acts as a chamber to settle the gunk. and they do help control larger particles from going thru the system.
steamman that thought is about using black as a background. They think that the black will absorb the light instead of reflect it like blue or just glass would
on the outside of the tank i used a blue background from Foster/Smith that is actually sticky so now water can get behind it and what can be seen through the rocks looks great
just came up from getting the new sump setup filled and recirculating even has its own little skimmer.. hooked up the Marlin for this weekend. now just need to clean up down there and move the old refuge out of the way. countdown to coming upstairs haha!!
the sixline that i had would pick during the day and all of my snails were pest free. it was interesting to watch it peck the astrea snails. but you are correct the Pyramid snails are nocturnal and manual removal will help keep there population down.
thanks for the heads up. i thought about you yesterday when we pulled the tank apart and moved it. my RBTA was squirting a little when i pulled it from the water.
