Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
LFS don't keep the salinity/sg lower to reduce parasites as it would need to be much lower to have any affect at all. It's simply to save on salt. I've always hated this practise myself. Fish have evolved to live at near 35% salinity not at 30 or 31% so that is what they should be kept at to...
Man, how can you guys tell what that is? It's to dark for me to even see (looks like a rock). Is it my computer or does this look very dark to you also?
I'm amazed you guys can tell what that is.

I like that bottom tank alot. Reminds me of a couple of the tanks at Adventure Aquarium. Wouldn't be to bad to work on either.
That top tank would be a monster to work on!

The best (not easiest) way is to remove the rock from the tank and pull them off by hand. If possible you don't want to break/burst them in the tank as that helps them spread.
The hour at 400 degrees is my favorite method but it makes a royal mess in the oven and stinks pretty badly.
As far as...
If you are ordering a few things you can have your order shipped via airline. This way you can go to the airport and pick it up. Much higher success rate doing it this way in colder weather but it doesn't make sense if you aren't buying a few pieces.

If you can move the rock in 5 gallon (or larger) buckets filled with tank water. That's the best method bar none. Second to that is NapoliNewJersey idea of wrapping the rock in SW soaked towels. I'd avoid newspapers due to the chemical and mess it makes.
If you have a sand bed I'd probably...
Cyano is almost allways present in a tank to some degree. It's natural. It's only when it gets out of control that it becomes a problem. It's caused by abundant nutrients in the system regardless of what any particular test kit says.
Low flow areas will usually be the first to show signs of...
I'll give ya my opinion also.
I'd go with a 2 or 3 inch sand bed (fine white play sand from HD). Add a couple of pieces of Live Rock for a bit of bacteria and for looks. I'd say most fish will be happier with a few pieces of rock to hind behind and whatnot. Doesn't need to be anything like a...
I've tried CC a couple of times because I like the look of it. Both times I ended up removing it. Nitrates became a problem. It seems no matter how much flow you have detritus still gets stuck between the pieces since it's so course.
That's my 2 cents and my advice would be not to do it for a...
I pretty much agree with mladencovic on all points.
It should still work but not optimally. It should be good enough.
Ed if you want some help with the plumbing let me know and I can stop by.

I think DaveK just about nailed a great setup.
I'm not sure however if the rock weight was supposed to say 1 pound to 1/2 pound or 1 pound to 1.5 pounds per gallon.
I myself would go with about 1.5 pounds per gallon and then watch the nitrates to see if maybe more rock is needed or not.
I'd...
Man that sucks!
File a police report if you haven't already and then follow up with your credit card company (hopefully you used a CC). They will often times replace the merchandise or cancel the charges (same thing) so you don't have the loss.

Using a high quality cable I've went I think 64 feet without any problems. I'm sure I could have went longer but that was all I needed. Lots of people go further then 10 feet but I think Neptune wants to cover themselves as not everyone will use a quality cable or may run the line next to power...
