Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
What's the flow rate for it? I'd shoot for 400-500 gph for the return. This will allow you to avoid having any powerheads in the tank itself and will provide ample circulation for everything (As long as we are talking about the 16g).
I did the 16 bare and the 8 with a slightly more coarse sand. I also highly recommend upgrading the return pump for the 16. The flow is slightly lacking. I'd also recommend different lights besides the stock Skyye LED lights. They are GREAT for softies. Lps and up tend to tank under them.
Warren is the guy who owns the place. The older bald guy is just someone who's been in the hobby for 30 years or so. He's what I'd normally refer to as a fountain of knowledge. The fish selection is pretty large, as well as the coral selection. 10$ section for frags, as well as 20-40$ frags...
For a cool invert, you could try a crinoid. They require excellent water quality though. So, only do one if you plan on keeping up with a tank to make sure it doesn't die. (They are very sensitive).
I would take the rock back out and chip the two edges that are almost touching the glass off. Otherwise, you won't be able to clean the glass in those spots. Other then that, loving it. I have a 8 gallon tank set up right now as well, and love it! (though, it's been slightly neglected over the...
Scrubbers are great. Macro algae works well too. Combination of the two is guaranteed sweetness. :)
Edit: I'd also recommend adding a mesh screen inside of your algae scrubber. Gives the algae a place to grab on and build off of. It's also easy to remove for weekly scrapings. And yes, you...
Okay lol. The Rw-4s are slightly cheaper then the wp-10s and come with all the same options (Both Jebao products). They also come with the controller that can run Master/Slave with independent controls for them if you want.
Just a fyi in case the Wp-25s turn out to be too much :p. Any pics yet?
Two Wp-25s will be WAAYYY crazy overkill for that tank lol. Try two Rw-4s instead. They are about the same as the wp-10s. 100-1000gph flow rates. Or, try a combo of like a rw-4 and a rw-8. The rw-8 is slightly weaker then the wp25, but not by much. With two wp25s, you're talking anywhere from...
Gone. Please close thread.
ryanpal - PM me when your tank is up and running. I'll hook you up with a free Clown fish to get you started when the time comes :)
closed per request.
Either way has been known to work in the past. More of a personal preference, ya know? As long as the cycle get's going so he can stock this bad boy! :)
The tank looks awesome! And as far as going nuts with the primer... better to over do it, then under do it and have to rip apart the plumbing because of a missed spot where it leaks. Know what I mean :p?
A week is kind of fast for a cycle to happen. Even if you are using a additive to induce it. Did you transfer over existing live rock, or water column? If not, I'd add some more cycle starter, or a dead shrimp. I wouldn't trust a tank that never showed any readings during the "cycle". A ammonia...
