Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I've used it on several different set ups, with no ill affects. But then again, I tend to build set ups with cured rock, bio-active sand, and water from a 30 year established system. Usually have a tank up and running with no cycle in 2-3 days :p
After having a million tanks set up, and getting frustrated over and over with not being able to focus on any of them in particular, I decided to downgrade the amount of tanks to two medium sized and one small one. MUCH easier to keep track of it all! But, I digress!
So, I had a buddy who...
I've just read through all 44 pages of this and I must say, A+ on everything. Most people dive head first into this hobby, and end up making a ton of poor choices. You seem to have taken your time with everything, and had a goal in mind. I'm extremely happy that you have it up and running and...
I had the 29g version. Removing the bio balls and replacing them with LR rubble is better. The stock lighting will do great for any LPS/Softy there is. I kept anything from Kenya Trees all the way to Open Brain corals in it. Anything more light demanding then LPS I'd recommend retrofitting...
Okay, I'll try and stop by tomorrow. If not tomorrow then the day after, if that's okay. And, since you're so close, do you know Mike over in Parsippany?
Glad to see the acro I gave you has done so well :). I think I may have finally gotten a healthy male mandarin in for you! Well, it's healthy. Just not sure about the male yet! Gota wait for the dorsal fin to pop up lol
Tank looks good bud! The stocking list is a little heavy for a 55 gallon tank though. Really should be 5-6 fish max in a 55 gallon tank. Looks awesome though! If you're looking for a good person locally to buy corals from PM me. I'll introduce you to a buddy of mine over in Parsippany that would...
When in doubt, do a water change. SPS are tricky. I had a Green Slimer Acro that turned from a 1" frag into a 6" colony. After all that, with no swings in params, and steady water changes, it just randomly started to bleach out. I give up on trying to keep them lol
This is a guess, and a suggestion, all in one! You should make a archway tank. This way you can walk underneath and see from both sides, as well as up! That would be awesome!
