What light do you use in refugium?

Alot of the companys that make sumps include the light. The light they include is usually compact flourecents. Any light is good for macro algae. You can try this

    TDS Meter

I think some of the RODI units have them built in. I've seen one at a friends house and it looked good.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

I'm right behind you on that. Mine's gone as well. I heard it's only the ALK test though. Don't know how true that is. I guess i'll have to compare it to all my others. Actually my Salifert Nitrate test reads high also.

I have two of the 2 little fishy ones. One for Phos and one with Matrix in it.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

Phyl, for the first time in a long time I'm actually happy with my coral-less tank. I've done so much scrubbing, changing, fish ejecting, treating, dosing, adding eqipment and i'm finally over the hump. Thanks for all the advice from everyone. Pictures will be coming.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

Just found one of my old API tests for KH and it changed color after 8 drips and changed completely after 9 drips. I think this means my dKH according to this test is roughly between 8 and 9 and my ALK is between 2.85 and 3.2. I'm a tiny bit more comfortable.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

I know it's only been 4 hours but my Ph is still holding strong at 8.2. I'll keep an eye on it with the air tub out the window and see what happens. I'm thinking it was the testkit.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

I'm very happy now that i've heard the test kit news. I'll get a different test and see what happens. Bill if you go to AO anytime soon let me know and i'll meet you there to borrow the test. Darren, I guess we're probably in better shape than we thought.

My tank has no coral in it but all my fish are still in there. What do I do if it does go up. Should I just add the Calcium reactor?

    March POTM *Winner*

Coral Banded Shrimp? I don't think they'd eat a harlequin. Or maybe Copperband Butterfly? That i'm not sure about.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

OK. I just took hard airline tubbing and put it from my skimmer to ouside a window. I'll let you guys know what happens around 2pm when I get back from work. In the meantime should i turnoff the KA Reactor? Thanks Phyl.

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

I'll also add that I haven't hooked up my CA reactor yet because i'd like to get my PH up to 8.3 or 8.4 before bringing it back down with the CO2

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

My Alk/dKH is pretty high. PH-8.2 (finally ;D) dKH-14.4 ALK-5.14 Mag-1380 Cal-450 I think the ALK has been high for way too long. I thought it would come down to 10 or 11 but i'm not too sure 14dKH is such a good thing. Anyone have anythoughts?

    Metal Halide vs. T5 lighting

The depth of the tank matters. If it's over 20 inches then you won't be able to hit the bottom of the tank hard with light. With 250s your tank can be 30" deep and still put SPS on the bottom.
