good point if the real ocean water contains life forms that could atatck the coral but I would imagine that chemically, the difference between Atlantic and Pacific ocean water is less than the difference between either and synthetic saltwater. Does anybody know?
well ya know um its like a recession and everything and a guy uhm can get hungry and its just kind of like in the window there lookin all gourmet delicious and all just teasing ya, staring you right in the face------
my money is on my tiger pistol shrimp/watchman goby tag team taking the...
My coral beauty is healthy and happy in my 29 (she told me herself) but its true that its a beauty's prerogative to change her mine and no two ladies are ever exactly the same, so yes a bigger tank is always better.
Any chance you aded the ca reactor right before the problem started (I guess with the 65 upgrade)?
Regardless, best of luck and keep trying - I hope you solve the riddle soon.
A coral beauty angel should be ok in a 29 with live rock - they love to swim through openings (some real tight) in the rock structure which is fun to watch.
you're right. I was just thinking that if its live its feeding so if you stopped the water changes and additives, etc. there is a chance that it may deplete its chemical food source and die off (before the rest of the tank) - but since you have already done that, that's a really bad guess on my...
I've gone through that after it was first introduced - weeks went by and I was sure it was dead only to have it pop up fat and healthy one day. A powerhead is blowing at the base of the rocks so food must have been getting into its hiding spots (that or pods?). When it popped out I noticed my...
thanks for the reply tbone. I don't have a sump so I have just let it fend for itself and its doing well - another healthy molt 2 days ago but still no tail in sight (but if I squint my eyes just right, it looks like some little nubs may be forming back there). I'll let you know if it grows...
ha, now that you mention that, that pistol looks a little more like he would functionally clip the tail off a goby. I guess that's just what Bill gets for trying to do the right thing and buy American. I knew this place would be a fount of knowledge - impressive answer - thanks. Now if someone...
Nah, as I said above I saw it molt once already and the tail is still not there after that molt. I have a (bad quality) picture of the still tailless cleaner shrimp (very active, alive and happy - not a mere, dead shell of its former self) but I don't know how to post it on here. I'm hoping that...
Anybody have any experience with a skunk cleaner shrimp's tail growing back? The tail was clipped off a few weeks ago and it survived without any real problems and happily scampers over rocks and fulfills its fish cleaning role. I know it molted at least once since the incident but the tail is...
I have a pistol shrimp that at first would not come out of the tunnels it dug beyond a quick peek here and there. I added a yellow watchman goby and they immediately bonded. Now the pistol comes out and boldly goes after food and builds elaborate tunnel opening structures with live rock rubble...
Thanks again Phyl. The answers to my questions at the company so far have been a bit cryptic to say the least (like Q:Do you make a splash guard for this unit that I can buy? A: The unit does not come with a splash guard) but I'll give it another try. I will probably rig up a little fan on the...
Yes it does have a channel on each side so I guess I can just go get some lexan cut to the correct size snap it in the grooves and I'm done with the splash guard?
Thanks for the welcome and getting back to me so quickly Phyl. It would be a commercial fixture made by a co. named Catalina. I don't know much but it seems that although it maybe on the lower end of the quality spectrum it should work for me now and if I move onto a few soft corals down the...
