i got one from 3 weeks ago from autotopoff.com after reading about how people swear by them on this site. i am now included in that group of people. it looks a bit intimidating at first with all the wires, but its the easiest thing to set up.
this happened to me on more than one occasion, the last time it was my old 46 bowfront about 3 years ago, i ended up taking down the tank and selling it on ebay and parting out the livestock. my last computer hard drive fried and i lost my pictures of it. i miss that tank but i kept my eheim wet...
last night i glued the velcro to the wood, and havent been down there yet. im going to the store to pick up L brackets. thanks to everyone for their quick responses
I was thinking about doing the coat hanger idea with L brackets screwed into the plywood since i have nothing for the hangers to hang on. The zipties screwed to the plywood makes me nervous.
I am trying to mount my Aqua controller jr to a piece of plywood. I do not have the option of mounting it to a canopy or stand. It does not come with a hole in the back to mount on a screw and hang like a picture frame or power strip. I dont feel confident only using the velcro they supplied me...
i would like to use it to grow mangroves and other plants, also for growing pods. i would like to put a couple peppermint shrimp in there and make it its own little ecosystem. i have a 12 inch dual satellite with 2x18watt daylight bulbs to grow plants. i wouldnt mind having to buy more mud, but...
i am setting up my refugium and was reading about the benefits of mud, i know alot of people use sand, but is there anyone on here who uses mud bottom. Any feedback as to why you do or dont use it would be appreciated. thanks
it all depends on how tall youre making your partition, ive been running my tank for 2 weeks now with the window glass and its working fine, they are roughly 10x11 each and they arent under much pressure. im sure if it was a bigger partition with more pressure it would shatter. I am taking extra...
im not sure what size tank you have but will a 20L be big enought? i have a 29 gallon i turned into a refugium, i originally had a 20L but it didnt have the height i wanted. go to championlighting.com and check out the adhi sumps and fuges, it gives you all the dimensions right on there. you can...
thanks for the responses. the person who told me that wasnt too credible, thats why i figured id ask since i know there are people on this forum with starphire tanks. its something i will take consideration into in my next tank, but that wont be for at least a year. thanks for the link.
has anyone here used starphire glass for a considerable amount of time? i was told that it scratches almost as easily as acrylic. i know with the new oceanic tech and ultimate tanks more and more people are using starphire. i dont think its in my budget yet, let me re phrase, i know its not in...
i just made a stand for my reef devil skimmer today, i used 1/2 inch pvc pipe with elbows and tees and laid a piece of acyrlic on top as a table top. cost me about 8 dollars.
first of all thanks to everyone for all the replies. Rich, there are glass lenses on the system under each halide bulb. im going to tell him to try the lense screening method. would the change of going from coralife to the megachrome bulbs vary that much if they were only 3 months old? thank...
my friend has a 265 gallon tank that is 30 inches tall and has 4 250w HQI bulbs and 6 80w actinic t5 lights that are 60 inches long. this tank was set up in early september. we recently changed from alternating coralife 10k, and 14k bulbs to giesemann 250 Watt 13000K MegaChrome Marine bulbs...
the actual overflow box, i dont want to paint it and then put it in the tank where it can be toxic to anything in the tank. my sister lives in manhattan and i go there often, i'll see if they can fabricate something for me. thanks
do you have any experience making them? i found a website that has them but they are $110 each for 24 in high and need two. im contemplating ordering the scrylic off of ebay for the $40, pluse the weld on and silicon. Its probably going to be about $60 total.
