I disagree. Proper water movement is a must. It is not just for bringing food and removing wastes from the corals. It will prevent dead spots in the tank and allow the water to move around the rocks and then out to the skimmer/sump. It also removes uneaten food and detritus from accumulating on...
I have heard that they have had problems with the pump that comes with the unit.
If you are going to spend that kind of money, look at Marine Technical Concepts Pro-Cal. It is a better unit, it can blow off excess CO2, it is built like a tank, and they are based in NJ. They will answer any...
My setup is as Dave detailed. I have a 90 gallon reef tank with about 130 lbs of live rock, sump, a good skimmer, and calcium reactor. I do small water changes once a month and both phosphate and nitrate are zero using Salifert test kits.
On a side note, I decided to to small water changes...
Go with post #2 instead of the denitator. Find out why your nitrates are to high and go with a good skimmer and water changes. Truth is if you have a good skimmer, enough rock, no bio balls, and don't overfeed, you will have negligible nitrates even without water changes.

I didn't mean altering the water temperature. I meant that the ratings are based on a given temperature. Mt unit is hooked up to a faucet right where it comes into the house. I get much more good water (quicker) in the summer than the winter.

My manufacturer states 4:1. I also think they are assuming that your water pressure is at 60psi. By the way, the temperature of your water will influence how much good water you will get. The warmer the water, the more output.

I wasn't trying to be difficult. I just always have trouble posting pics. I would rather have the pics posted instead.

I'm not sure what you mean. Isn't it doing image linking, or is there another term? A lot of professional photographers use that site. Obviously by the fact that my pictures look like crap, I'm not one of them. :)...

Oh. I didn't realize the reason. I was able to follow the link when I made the post. Maybe something got messed up afterwards. I'll give it one more try.
