If you look through my thing here I made arches recently. http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=13675.0 . I used the 2 part reef putty but it didn't work as well as I wanted to I just used crazy glue and it held it great
The tiles do look good, but I'm sure many can attest that the larger the tile the easier it cracks. But so long as the weight is distributed around it should be okay, again it looks great
The tank is coming along very nicely. With my nano I was buying the 4.4 gallon jug of premixed water from Aquatic Obsessions. I would change 2.2 gallons per week, it would take about 5 minutes total. It's easy once you have an extra empty jug, I had one marked with exactly what I wanted to suck...
I have these small puffy looking things, they were in my nano also but I see more of them in the 90. Just curious if it's something I shouyld be worried about.
Thanks a lot. The pair of brackets can hold up to 250 lbs. I figure there is only about 9 gallons of water int here max so if there is 80 pounds of weight that would be the most it sees. I thought it would be okay
In an attempt to stop filling the top off by hand I decided to try and make an auto top off with things I had laying around the house first before I bought a fancy one. The only thing I bought was a few fittings for my RO unit (from Air Water Ice) and a 10 gallon garbage can. I have a fairly...
If you build a 2x4 frame with the 2x4's 16" on center it would be the same thing as building a wall. Put a piece of sheathing (plywood) on top for the tank to sit on. I assume you are using an existing wall and have to cut your wall studs out of the way to make the display area. Where you cut...
2x4's are plenty strong enough to support the weight, but I would be nervous of the tile cracking underneath the legs. With 2 legs in the back thats a lot of weight pressed onto that 1 point on the tile, I dont see how it wouldn't crack. And if you are going to put two 2x4's together for the leg...
If you go the route of two 4x4's in each corner and 45's coming off them in both directions you will have a lot of support. What size wood are you using to make the frame for the stand? I am a carpenter and have a lot of ideas that I could put on paper but it's tough to put them on the computer
