    visit to alti's reef

Holy smokes! I remember reading all about the build of this project. If I'm not mistaken, he's right in the Poconos, East Stroudsburg, no? I'll be visiting him - if he lets me - cause my son goes to college there. ;D I heard many, many good thing about Alti.

    Coral banded shrimp...Reef safe???

My CBS has been with me for nearly 2 years and has always been a model citizen. I also keep a skunk cleaner and a pair of blood shrimp (which started off wee small). Never had any issues with the CBS. :)

ORA's last three releases = BORING.

ORAs newest release is actually just that: a bright green cap (no purple rim) If I'm not mistaken the other cap (where the diver died) was released the month before that, and before that was "Joe the coral". I tend to agree with Jonathan, the last 3 releases do seem boring compared to other...

    I'm a clown killer

Oh how sad. I just watched the videos. :'( How are your other 2 fish doing? I know really nothing about brook, so I can't say anything. Please feel free to knock me silly, but could it have been Oodinium (velvet)? He was in horrible shape.

Diver, what are you planning to keep in the tank? Mostly SPS, LPS, softies, mix of everything? What type of "look" do you like? Do you like a blue look, bluish look, white look, yellow look? Will you grow many corals that have the ability to "fluoresce", that you want to "pop out" from your...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

    Went on a "little" roadtrip

Today I finally visited a friend of mine, who has some SW tanks (and other critters). Brought the camera along, and thought I'd share some pictures. The most amazing thing about his tanks are is that he uses TAPWATER ONLY to mix his saltwater. Granted, there aren't any stonies, but let me tell...

    justchads 150g build

The Whiteface is hanging out in the back, swimming and picking at the rock. No more fighting like yesterday.

It has arrived.............. OMG, this is scary

Thanks for the great advice, Phyl and Bill. :) She's still hanging out in the back today, but there is no more fighting going on. She is also picking at the rock. I'll do the 2 nori clips right now. ;D

Say you didn't. OMG, I read the first post, and was ready to congratulate you for finally ridding your tank of the little bastard, and then I read you put him back? :o

It has arrived.............. OMG, this is scary

Today I picked up my long-anticipated newcomer. I honestly thought she'd fit right in. :-X Even though I expected "some sort" of shuffling, and huffing and puffing, I didn't expect a down right war. She is a Whiteface Tang (Acanthurus japonicus). I slowly acclimated her with only the Blue...

    Zebrasoma flavescens & Zebrasoma veliferum

I can only tell you what I learned today from personal experience. I have a 180, and the Hippo was the firs tang in that tank. Then I added a Sailfin (Red Sea) and Scribbled Rabbitfish simultaneously. Them two acclimated together while leaning on each other, and have ever since hung out...

    SPS Filtration

Not really the "best" idea, especially since the phosban media should only be tumbled ever so slowly, while the carbon should be pushed through a bit harder. I would personally never run them two together. Another reason is that you need to replace carbon more often than the phosban media...

I have no business having more than 1 (maybe 2) tanks.

Sandee, don't feel too bad. I mean, I have only the one tank, and I never make any mistakes, you know. ;) (NOT) So sorry to hear that so much bad stuff has happened to you over a relatively short amount of time. But look at the bright side: It can only get better. :) Do you really want to...

    How long without aeration?

How big is your tank and how big is your bioload (how many fish @ what sizes)? If you have plenty of PHs going, you "should" be all right, but it does depend on system size and amount of livestock.
