Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Boy you got that right. Mine's definitely a ritual. ;D
The same day I'm done with my water change, I refill the trash can I use to make more salt water with fresh RO/DI water. The trash can contains a Tunze powerhead and a heater. The next day I add the saltmix. 2 days later I check the...
Nathan, like supermarket Baking soda? How do you use it in the tank? Do you premix it? If so, with salt water or RO/DI water? And how much do I use safely? ;D
Jon, what do you mean you have Rowaphos separately stored inside your filter bag? Is it possible that with the water gushing into the sock, the Rowaphos gets kind of smashed around to the point that it's making your sock dirtier faster?
I use filter socks, the heavy duty ones with felt on the...
I'll give my opinions on dog food: Our first dog, a Golden Retriever, was fed Purina One all his life because I honestly didn't know any better back then. He lived to be 12. However, when he developed cancer, which ate him up alive quite rapidly, I started doing tons and tons of research about...
Yes, that certainly could be the cause. You may have too much nutrient build-up since your skimmer wasn't working properly. Now that you've done a water change and fixed the skimmer, hopefully you'll see improvement.
Can you tell us about your water parameters? Also, are all corals affected?
Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!
You're more than welcome. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can get your hands on some. Looking at the origin of those slugs, I think that as soon as the waters warm up, we can have a meeting by the bay/ocean and catch you some. ;D
Bax, you crack me up!
I love my 2 Vortechs. Never had a fish get stuck (at least not to my knowledge), and ever since turning one of them up pretty high, I do get a nice wave motion over the top. I agree that finding the right position is a key factor.
I also learned that even though good...

LOL, sorry about that, Phyl. A pot ghetto is when you accumulate a whole bunch of pots (in my case from big to enormous...and a dozen or so), and plant roses in them, too, and then put those pots anywhere you find room. ;D
Unless I've got my blindfolds on (which happens occasionally), it looks like an extremely unhappy/dying stony coral (SPS). Was it that color when you got it? How long have you had it? And what kind of crabs are in there? Unless they're acro crabs, I'd either chuck 'em or throw 'em in the fuge...
Thank you so much, JR. I don't know about rainbow thumb though, LOL. It's just that I don't know my limits. As of last year I now have a pot ghetto along with the regular garden. :-[
Bryan, Hahn's Macaws and Jardine's parrots are sure nice! ;D
They do? Wasn't aware of that, especially since neither one of them "normally" poops outside the cage (they're poopy trained).
They are fully flighted right now, but that doesn't mean I let them cruise around at free will. Heck, Quincy plays Kamikaze during breeding season, and I don't want...
