Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

always nice to see representation from the south jersey/phila metro contingent matt - i'm in moorestown. it's also nice to find someone else sharing space at the end of the alphabet - as a fellow "z" name I've learned over the years that there are a relatively small number of us.... I have some...

Help with a CO2 leak or bad regulator with CA Rx

As George suggested, I had the regulator tested and it was shot. lesson #1: you MUST fully back out the adjustment screw/knob (dropping PSI to 0 so the know/screw is lose - all pressure is off the spring in the regulator) before switching the bottles in or out. Looks like I skipped this...

Help with a CO2 leak or bad regulator with CA Rx

thanks george (have the helped you with scuba equipment?) - hopefully it can wait for the next state holiday since they tend to not be open "after-work" hours

Help with a CO2 leak or bad regulator with CA Rx

can I get the regulator pressure tested? - maybe at south jersey welding supply -- the place that I got the bottle exchanged?

Help with a CO2 leak or bad regulator with CA Rx

I looked back at my notes and I was actually at closer to 15-20 per minute - about every 2-3 seconds) but that wouldn't indicate a leak, right? if there's a leak I would assume it would be somewhere before the bubble counter so more CO2 is escaping into the atmosphere before it gets into the...

Help with a CO2 leak or bad regulator with CA Rx

I'm new to CA reactors about 3 months ago I picked up a used MTC mini cal. It had a base line regulator and solenoid with it. pH controller is a milwaukee. Not sure how much came in the CO2 bottle but it lasted about 3 months with about 45-55 bubbles/ minute. I monitored the bottle levels but...

    FT Green Hammer Frags

I'm getting started with SPS so I would gladly accept anything. Issue at the moment is my lighting is somewhat insufficient. I'm building an LED fixture but I'm still a few weeks out in getting it up and running (it's part led build, part new hood as well) so is live any new SPS to try but if...

    FT Green Hammer Frags

I have a bunch of branching green hammer (branches) that I'm looking to clear off the frag rack. I had a large colony that broke up (sadly) and I spread it around my tank but what's left is monopolizing my lil' frag rack. They're basically up for grabs but I have a pretty limited collection so...

    LED rig build - layout/array - thoughts?

Wow. That's a lot of drivers. Where do you keep them. I have 80* optics for all blues n whites. No need for the reds/greens etc. I also have about 24 40* & 24 60* that came with one of the abandoned builds I bought. I thought I may use some on the edges around my rock structure to hit the sand...

    LED rig build - layout/array - thoughts?

I've been acquiring stuff slowly George. I have just about everything. Drivers are meanwell 60-48Ps. I have 4. May only use 3 though. With the Ps maybe I'll be able to add a reef angel next :). I had Ds I picked up cheap and then swaped for the Ps and one of the rapid PVM controllers. LEDs are...

    LED rig build - layout/array - thoughts?

This is my plan for an LED rig using 64 LEDs (plus 4 moonlights) - on [2] 9"x12" heatsinks - well actually 4 9"x6" heatsinks arranged in 2 pairs coupled together (allowing for the center brace to not impact the lights) so 34 a side. Right now that is looking like this: I had some trouble...

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

I was thinking my GFO may have played into it but I tested the output and po3 was 0. To me that meant it was doing its job. I'm gonna change it tonight anyway and adopt your schedule of 1x a month

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

Thanks Dan. That would be awesome. How's the Staghorn doing? I think some of mine is still alive. The RTN stopped so we'll see but hopefully the piece you have is doing well - I may ask for done if that too if it takes off under you LEDs.

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

traded: cyano problem for high phosphates an update of sorts... I used the chemiclean last Tuesday or Wednesday (I think 8/7-8) so it's been about 11 days. The cyano is completely eviscerated. It's actually quite nice seeing the sand this clean. As many might have expected, when I was testing...

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

I guess I didn't expect the chemiclean to solve the underlying issue. I've been trying many of the remedies suggested here for months. I actually had a HA outbreak that got pretty bad. There was a trace of cyano before that but as the HA got worse so did the cyano. Many of the suggested remedies...

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

Lights out sorta can't work for me. I suppose I could cover the tank with some tarps but my tanks in an all glass sunroom do I guess I hope your right. I regret the sand bed but short of moving if I want a tank in the house that's where it has to go.

Tried to battle cyano with antibiotics. Partial SPS fail

I have an ongoing cyano issue that I attribute to excess phosphate. I'm thinking food may be the culprit put I'm not sure. I'm also a little behind on my GFO and GAC change schedule. I'm in the process of building an LED rig and I know my bulbs are old but given the LEDs coming I don't want buy...
