Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
This is what I came up with – Hopefully these pictures do a better job of illustrating what I was suggesting in the previous post. Maybe once it’s fully in the water it will photograph ok but the efforts I made the other night to show what I was talking about were a failure. Anyway I’m hoping...
Well it looks like it won't fit in my sump without removing a baffle. With the bubble trap baffle in I have 9.5" clearance. I need a little more than 10". Since I have to build a platform to get to 5.75" depth my question is, can I orient the pump on a bias? I asked over on the sponsor page on...
Thanks for checking back Doug. Think I got it set and running tonight. The "if power 20 then MH1 off" was my missing step. I may go back and tweak it but as long as it cycles through properly in the next day or so I think I'm set.
Ok, so I'm getting the sense that there aren't many fans of ACJrs here....
i did get this over on RC
If Time > 11:00 Then MH1 ON
If Time > 11:00 Then MH2 ON
If Time > 19:00 Then MH1 OFF
If Time > 19:00 Then MH2 OFF
If Power 020 Then MH1 OFF
If Power 020 Then MH2 OFF
- not sure what happened...
ok, thought I'd give one more shout out on this as i try to get the ACJr to acquiesce….
I’d like to make sure that the halides cycle off for a 15 minute cool down in the event of a power failure. I used Doug’s programming as a baseline but I can’t seem to get the cool down to work. I believe...
Alk is down to (steady at) 10.7. Ca is steady at 410-415 so I started the CO2 last night. VERY slow - 20 bubbles per minute on the counter. My regulator isn't like a $300 regulator so it's a little difficult to get the kind of confidence I'd like but it will have to be good enough. now lets...
That Indonesia is beautiful. I believe the origin of mine is Australia. The top pic looks to have the shorter tentacles. It was ok on the tank I took it from and in mine for the first few days. Also what I read about the disease suggested that they died pretty fast once they started to decline...
thanks - I'll check tonight when I see where the dkh is... Is there any downside to higher calcuim other than it percipitating out and wasting some of the media in the reactor?
Still keeping an eye on things. I did a water change and CO2 is still off and dkh was 10.9. My NSW is 6.6 and that's AquaVitro Salinity. I guess my CO2 was way too high - gonna have to tinker with the bubble counter. A day or two and I'll put the CO2 back on, cut it in half and try again...
Seems to be the consensus - I posted on RC and Randy Holmes-Farley suggested the same thing. I shut of the CO2 this AM and I will re-test tonight. The water seemed to have cleared up this morning so maybe it was another snail event that I didn't happen to catch in the act - maybe some other...
I double checked it with my Red Sea reef kit (used fro Ca and Mg anyway) and that was higher. Like 13.7, so I think the number's close. Also I've been tracking calcium for several days b/c of the Ca Rx addition and that's been consistently at 410. Even with the Kalk I struggled to keep it over...
So hopefully someone can reassure me. Not sure how concerned I should be. I recently (2 weeks ago) added a minical calcium reactor. I took an AquaMedic Kalk reactor off line when I added the CA Rx. Water seemed a little cloudy tonight. Last time it was cloudy like that a couple snails were...
Well, he’s a character – I guess PaulB would beg to differ :) based on his tag line.... I'm sticking with synthetic although getting some local stuff that would survive in the artificial conditions based on a tropical climate might be worth doing if they’re are properly QT'd
Doug
Not sure you're checking this but thought I'd ask. I think I programmed everything following your protocol. I still have some issues though. Example, I programmed the first strip as "A1-8" and the 2nd as "B9-16". I have 2 HQIs and I set the If/Then for their on/off. I tried to add the max...
I took the plunge and went from this:
to this:
With the Kalk I had great coralline growth and my very low demand young reef was doing nicely but Ca was always around 390 and Alk around 3.4-3.5. Kalk was great at maintaining but I still had to dose some Ca and Alk (used reef builder) from...
