I just picked up four Bartlett Anthias from AO, so why they are acclimating, I figured I would upload some pics!
Since the last time I posted pics I have added a pair of True Perc's, a couple Green Star Polyp Colonies, a Red Star Polyp Colony, more turbo snails, and a piece of LR with some...
yeah i dont think they are even making a mag-24 any more.
i have heard a good rule of thumb regarding return pumps for a display tank is 3-5 times the tanks volume. my tank is 180g, so use a mag-9.5 which 5.2 times the tank volume before head loss. i use a mag-7 to pump water into my fuge b/c...
Althought it is probably not the most efficent, i use a Mag-9.5 for my return pump for the display tank (180g) and a Mag-7 for the return pump to my Refugium (55g) and a Mag-18 for my MCR-II Skimmer.
yeah zone 3 is what i figured as well. i just read that article again, it made more sense the second time. i think that has a lot to do with the fact that it is actually quiet in my house for a change!
i am going to get a magnesium test kit tomorrow and see where that is first. for the time...
1. Reef Crystals
2. No. I need to get one!
Has anyone else had similar issues since they been using their Kalk Reactors?
I've read that article in the past, but I am not a college graduate or anything, I think I may the 'For Dummies' version. I will read it again, maybe it will make more...
Hey guys, I need some advice on keeping my calcium at accepting level. My calcium level was reading about 360 for the first 6 weeks or so that my tank was set up. Then one day i tested again and my calcium was at 300. a few weeks ago and I added 32oz of Kent Concentrated Liquid Calcium. The...
i am far from an expert on the subject of pumps, but i dont think they can be mounted above unless they are self priming. in other words, they water to start pumping. i think there are self priming pumps that would be able to 'suck' the water up, but i am not sure. i had originally planned on...
ah i gotcha now!
well, for reasons stated above, i think i am just going to stick with my canister filter for the time being. not to mention that the FX5 is really easy to clean- at least compared to the fluval canisters i used back in the day (17 years ago when i started my first saltwater...
i have LR in my fuge along with grape caulerpa, how do you think my LR would react to this kind of lighting? right now i am using the fixture i had used on my previous tank. there are 2x65w 10k PC bulbs that run from 8am-8pm and 2x65 50/50 PC's that run 24x7. The macro algae grows like crazy and...
Matrix first then carbon? I thought Matrix was carbon? Am I missing something here? So, is it honestly worth the expense and effort to run these media's in the reactor cyclinders verus my existing canister filter- which, as of yesterday, is actually pumping water through my chiller. So, to...
what size is your fuge? when i set up my tank I had originally planned on having a 55g sump/fuge under the tank. the middle 24' was to be the fuge, but i just couldnt get it to the way i wanted so i decided to use my old 55g as a fuge and keep the other 55g under teh tank as a sump. so i am...
I didnt miss it! I jumped into these Group Buys with both feet. Three in 2 month or so. No wonder why I am broke, I just cant pass up a good deal I guess.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback guys!
I am using Kent Phosphate sponge in my canister filter right now and my phosphate levels are pretty...
Update-
Last week I added a couple True Perc's and a few Green Star Polyp & Red Star Polyp colonies.
Two days ago I picked up a used Coralife 1/2 HP Chiller
Yesterday I added 100 more Turbo Snails and built a shelf/stand for the chiller
Today plumbed the Chiller in-line with my Fluval FX5...
