I use a Mag-9.5 for a return pump on my 180g. I subscribe to the notion of 3x5 times the tanks volume. And like the previous post suggest, utilize powerheads or a closed loop system for water movement. the idea of using a smaller return pump is to maximze time in the sump for exposure to the...
Yes, Welcome to NJRC, Birds Fan! (Eagles? Cardinals? Orioles? Seahawks? Blue Jays?)
how old is your tank? I know you said you've had your clowns for 9 months.
I agree with Mom-Of-6, Rose Bubble Tip anemones are very nice. I hope to eventually get one myself to host my true percs!
Thanks...
will do!
my advice to anyone getting TBS would be to dip all pieces of LR in fresh water for about 10 seconds first. yes you cause so some additional die off, but you will get those mantis shrimps before they get into your tank.
oh i didnt know that about that orange coral! i still have another piece that seems to be doing better, i guess i should try moving it a lower spot.
the clean up crew is good, i have some spots of green algae that i wish they would, but nothing major, just a few re-occuring spots on a couple...
i bought a 1/2hp chiller from a guy off craigslist for $400 about two months ago. he said it was only used for a year, manufacturer date supported his claim. so far so good. i went to his house to pick it up. he had 2 pretty impressive reef tanks. being that i know where this guy lives, i felt...
yeah i was just joking about helping my son potty train that way (kinda disturbing i know). btw, girls are a lot easier to potty train than boys!
but really, do people seriously tape pics of clowns in anemomes on their tanks?
i second Phyl's advice about condi's. i was given 4 condi's for free...
i second that notion.
i, too, had a yellow tang in my old 55g that had hlle. i added a ground probe, but that didnt solve the problem. i tried a few other remedies, but nothing helped him.
are you serious??!?!?!?!?!
maybe that will work to help my 2 year go on the potty!!!
i am curiously awaiting the answer to this anemome question. i too have to 2 true percs and would eventually like to have a nem for them to call home (once my tank is a bit more matured)
180g DT-
4 Koralia Hydor 4's- 3600-4800gph (depending on who you ask)
Mag 9.5 return pump- rated at 950gph probably about 500-600 gph after head loss.
Fluval FX5- 1000gph- realistically probably about 500gph.
So anywhere from 25-33 turn over rate for the main tank. i think i am going to add...
Just realized I never posted any pics of my 4 Barltett Anthias. Although it is unlikely I will get all 4 together in one shot since they are not quite a harem. More of a pair and two other individuals.
So I had to remove the orange coral that you see in the pics posted above, I am not quite...
yeah they are one of my fav fish too, i had a few over the years. i tried keeping one in my 55g before i upgraded to 180g but he ate snail and hermits like they were popcorn.
amazing tank! how many fish do you have? i see a yellow tang, hippo tang, purple tang, 2 bartlett, 2 percs, and a cleaner wrasse- is that it?
just wondering b/c i have a 180g too, so far i have 2 percs and 4 bartletts. plan on adding a couple tangs in the coming months.
