Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
correct.
most higher numbered lenses are actually a zoom lens especially if it has a range, like 55 to 200 mm
for some reason, Nikon calls their macro lenses as micro lenses, which is basically a "closeup" lens, Phyl likes the 105mm macro, I prefer using the 60mm macro lens.
and.... Nikon...
better quality control
eliminates unnecessary fillers (believe me, some frozen food do!)
you can specifically cater to the type of fish/coral you're feeding
cheap, cheap, cheap
what do you mean by what "mix" to buy? Do you mean raw ingredients/constituents?
I only have/keep common corals now *sigh*
I remember a time when they were just called purple Montipora digitatas or Green Montipora capricornis or Acropora tortuosa or Pink millepora.....nowadays, it's like: LE nuke-lear Chartreuse montipora cap reverse or something. I miss the good old days...

here's a rather interesting link about Tridacnid clams, a little dated, but interesting.
Aquaculture facilities actually "feed" clams with a dilute solution of Ammonia in a raceway system. By the time the effluent reached the end, the nitrogen...
noise- filter bags will definitely help, and maybe even try making a bubble box. RichT made me one in a sump design/build and it is q-u-i-e-t.....
nitrates- I would suggest shutting the main circulation pump off and siphon ANY and all detritus in the sump under the rubble rock. Then, take...
I went to Petsmart to size a 40 breeder today :)
and then realized I don't have a feasible place to display it, and then realized it wouldn't fit in the car anyways and then I realized that buying the tank is another step to another to another.
I went home driving in the rain, sad faced and...
Waterplug can be found at ACE hardware, it's a quick setting cement used to plug cracks in a basement and is supposedly completely waterproof. BruceK left us some to play with, and I've been using that since November. It sets in less than 5 minutes, depending on the amount of water. Awesome...
I deal with a form of that all the time, everyday. I have been working as a retail manager for over 10 years, I actually just had a conversation today with an irate customer who wanted to return an iphone because it did not work with a stylus and was over their "customer remorse period" (now...
(speaking out loud) I understand how you could have missed the button, it's ok, it happens (congratulations on purchasing your new product?), enjoy.
well, technology has its benefits, let me guide you so you can maximize your piece of technology/machine
for every action, there is a reaction...
that sps in the middle is an encrusting porites. I have the same one, hitchiked on a piece of LR like 5 years ago. It's now the size of a grapefruit. A Very slow grower, and very dense.
bump!
where the pics at?!?
Steve, you mind cutting me a 3.25 inch round acrylic disc with your dad's tools? :D :D :D I found a cheaper way to make a lookdown cup :D
Danny, that's a massive pump for a 40 breeder! I have an Iwaki 20 now as my return pump. I had an Iwaki 40 on my 75 gallon and that was pushing it with the stock durso. Are you running other equipment with it?
I like the moveable shelf myself. What's it for? I keep thinking for your sump.
understood, but with all the commotion in re-aquascaping, you will want to do a water change to reduce any potential organics that could be released into the water column, it's a preventative measure as well as an excuse to do a minor water change.
mix up plenty of water right now and equalize to your tank. pour some tank water in the holding tank (or buckets), pour it back in tank. Drain and do it again. That way, your water is close to if not equal to your new water and "old" tank water. It should minimize stress instead of adding fresh...
THAT was the prototype.
Here is the new and improved $2.19 lens "box" :)
(or cup rather, lol)
*sigh* the 3 nylon screws set me back about 35 cents each. They are needed to hold the cup in place so the front lens stays perfectly perpendicular to the acrylic window. Any slight deviation causes...
croceas and maximas are rock dwelling tridacnids anyhoo. They look better within the rock structure instead of the sand, and fare better as well. Both species secrete a calcium dissolving slime on the "foot" to allow them to nestle in between rock/coral structures in the wild.
squamosas and...
