Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'll chime in here as a strong advocate for RO/DI water. After doing tons of research on that matter, I wouldn't have done it any other way. You can get fairly inexpensive and GOOD units these days, and it'll safe you tons of trouble and heartache. ;) JR is absolutely right about the wavemaker...
Taking out 10 out of 30 will make a difference, I'm pretty sure. Perhaps you can make another batch right afterwards though, so in case your parameters aren't where you would like them, you have enough water to make another change, to possibly get them to acceptable levels (for corals)...
W O W - that baby looks huge already, and beautiful, too! I love anemones, but don't have the room and/or nerves for one. (Ja, believe that?)
Best of luck with it. :)
Phil, it's a 55 gallon and a Remora C skimmer.
I agree with the above posters about skipping the Eheim filter. I don't think you'll be needing it.
I also think the Remora C is a great choice for a hang-on skimmer. Do you know yet what type of fish and/or corals you are planning to keep? I'm...
Jonathan, even though it's MUCH MUCH MUCH too soon to make any judgment, I have to say that I've already noticed better polyp extension.
The only ting I'm uncertain of, is when I can safely start dosing at recommended strength. Does anyone know?
3 days ago I started adding something to my tank. Nope, no Vodka or sugar, but 2 Zeovit products. Pohl's Coral Vitalizer and Amino Acids. I'm starting at half strength, 4 drops of each every day. I'd like to start a picture journal, just for comparison. Of course I have to make sure to always...
This will be one heck of a gorgeous setup, Steve.
Remember, I'm slow, so go ahead and crack up laughing, but you're not breaking down your 180, are you?
What kind of thermometer are you using?
Also, perhaps it IS the heater afterall.
When one of my former Koralias pooped on me, it did run very hot. I pulled it immediately.
And lastly, even T5s produce heat, especially if they're run without any fans.
Brandon, I just saw that TFJ also sells the entire fixture as a complete set WITH bulbs of your choice. Look:

That's an incredible price, IMO, especially since the bulbs are usually $20 and up each. :o
LOL. I had my fair share of "adventures" with a carpet anemone, too, although mine never hurt me. It was a fish eater, however. ::) But mine wasn't nearly as gorgeous as yours. What a beauty!
I have way too many pictures to post 'em all. Here are just a couple:
Here are tons more:

Whoah - GREAT improvement, Ryan! I laughed out loud when you said you're illuminating your entire living room. Believe me, I can relate! I don't think you have any limits on what you can put where with those lights.
IF the timers are military time, then it goes like this:
1AM = 0100 hours
6AM...
Re: Here's my 120
Bax, it was just AWESOME meeting you. I can't begin to thank you enough for those GORGEOUS frags, and for hand-delivering them. ;D Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could have talked with you for hours on end. I certainly learned a lot. Thanks again.
Brandon, I know nothing about MHs, but seeing the unit you looked at, there are cheaper T5 units out there, which I think you'll be very happy with.
I had the 6 X 54Watt TekLight fixture on my 75 from when I started the tank, and could not have been happier with it. The growth was amazing, and...
Thank you so much Steve, Bill, Merv and Phyl.
Phyl, I'm blushing here. :-[ And it was MY pleasure! I tell you something else, Max had the time of his life and ate some dogfood ON HIS OWN after you left. ;D
Ryan, unless you already have one, get a pH test, too.
Salifert is great, but SERA is also very good, and about 1/2 the price. ;) Don't know about any others, sorry.
