Taking out 10 out of 30 will make a difference, I'm pretty sure. Perhaps you can make another batch right afterwards though, so in case your parameters aren't where you would like them, you have enough water to make another change, to possibly get them to acceptable levels (for corals)...

What kind of thermometer are you using? Also, perhaps it IS the heater afterall. When one of my former Koralias pooped on me, it did run very hot. I pulled it immediately. And lastly, even T5s produce heat, especially if they're run without any fans.

Ryan, unless you already have one, get a pH test, too. Salifert is great, but SERA is also very good, and about 1/2 the price. ;) Don't know about any others, sorry.
