Plain and very common bristleworm. Very beneficial to your tank unless a) the tank is swarming with them which will indicate nutrient problem - to much of it, or b) it gets very very large - more then 6-10" in which case it becomes nuisance. Mind you I have read posts on the web from people who...

    Unhappy or Hurt Kenya Tree

I have a small branch of Kenya tree growing among the gren star polyps. They don't bother it and it doesn't bother them, so far.

    Potter anyone?

By chance I have visited one Barnes & Noble book store ONE day after the release of the previous book, that was the most hypeed book release up to date, and they had piles and piles of books available. :) So for me, it is 22nd, no lines, no camping in front the store, no pushing and showing in...

    Adding Pictures

By resizing the picture, which can be done in absolutely any program I know that manipulates (allows you to edit) the images: Paint, MS Picture Manager, Adobe Photoshop, ZoomBrowser, Gimp and Pixel to name the few. If the image is in JPEG format (.jpg or .jpeg extension), then you can also...

I would still say it is closer to Capnella sp (Kenya tree) then Cladiella sp. (Colt). I very much doubt it is Nephthea sp. or Klyxum sp. (other Colts, Brocolies and Cauliflowers)

Start of my aquapod - help as i progress

Someone on the last meeting was claiming that the epoxy that was sold in HD is the same stuff that is sold for aquarium use, although I don't know if that person was referring to that particular product.

    upgrade anyone?

If I read it right, he is not selling the tanks, just the livestock.

    New Pics and Identify This

It all depends on the dimensions of the coralites and if that is a full extension of the polyps. Just by shape, it reminds me mostly of the Turret (Sun) corals (Dendrophphyllia or Ballanophyllia sp), which could also explain how they could survive "curing" of your LR. It could also be stumps of...

Not if they are deflated as this picture indicates by the look of the polyps themselves. Kenya trees can often be seen in that state and even more deflated if they are agitated by something.

    Potter anyone?

I have seen the movie yesterday, and while my 6 year old was bored, everone else in my family above that level liked it :) Definitively must see for any real fan of her books and/or movies. Harry is portrayed in much better light then in the book, and by simplifying and omitting many details...

    Auto Top off stuck on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T DO THAT ! This is NOT a good solution. Presumably, in order to catch the faillure of one switch, your upper one is serving as a backup and as a indicator of the failure of the lower one. Problem with this is that the these switches get stuck in ON mode because of the magnetisation of the...

    Best bulb for color.

Color can still varry for bulbs of the same temperature but different manufacturer. If you take a look at pic of my tank you will notice that left side is more reddish and right side more bluish/green. Both sides are iluminated by 14K MHs, but the left one is the bulb which came with Coralife...

Really White Sand - Southdown?? Old Kastle??

Interesting. I have seen it ocassionally both in Petsmart and Petco, let alone in bunch of other specialised stores. Of course it costs ~$1/Lb

Really White Sand - Southdown?? Old Kastle??

That would depend on the size of the fish, I guess. I have beautiful Rainford's goby that great sand sifter, but since it is only 2" long, it doesn't make any mess. The only problem is that if it chooses to "chew" its mouthful of sand above some of the "flat" (cup/plate type of) corals that I...

    Best bulb for color.

What do you mean by adjusting? Each bulb glows at very specific spectrum depending on the type of the gass mixture that is inside the bulb and the type of the phosphor coating on the glass - different bulbs will have different colors.

    OT Bronx Zoo Pictures

Nice. In the sparrow pic, you shouldn't have erased that portion of the roof - th white area distracts and hurts the eye. You should have either cropped it cmpletely out, or blured just that portion to something fuzzy that would remove whatever you tried to remove.

Really White Sand - Southdown?? Old Kastle??

SouthDown sand is no no longer avalibale in stores. Here are a few threads about it: http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=3861.0 http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=1287.0 Some other products are available, but none has...

    RBTA help

Just because the bulbs are rated the same wattage and color, it doesn't really mean that they are truly the same. Check all those discussions on the web about which lights are the best. The full spectrum can be very different specially if the bulbs are from different vendors or different age...
