Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Nope, photo chopping won't help in the sump. :)
Yep, I think you're on to something there. I wouldn't bother to build it until you get a feel for where the bubbles are in the sump. Then do what you indicated in that pic to get as much bubble-free water in the pump and you're in business.

You were the inspiration for the thread. :)
mladencovic, I thought about that too but just thought I'd throw the question out first to see how many people would be interested if at all.
It would probably make sense to cover the basics first and work up to more advanced stuff at each meeting...
Just trying to feel out the waters here.
How many people would be interested in learning/mastering tank shooting with their digital camera? If enough people were interested maybe we could work it into an upcoming meeting as a class.
We surely have some good tank photographers in our group who...
mott768, maybe you're on to something. Maybe we could have a class or two on photo shooting at a couple reef meetings. Maybe I'll start a new thread.

I'm sure that would work. I'd bet you could turn it on a couple of times a day like that to clean off the rocks and not really cause any problems with nitrate reduction.
Once you get everything in the sump and running watch closely for bubbles. It's the bubbles that are the killers for the...
Eric, thanks for the information.
For those of us who aren't really familiar with Kosher foods how about a few ideas for different types of food that could be brought to your house and any type of foods to avoid.
It's only fare that we respect your beliefs and preferences when we enter your...
I do this on my kalk and dosing pumps with the airline control valve. They've been running for a couple of years with no problems.
You just want to make sure you "strangle/block" the output of the pump and not the input.

I've had xenia growing right next to a few maximas and actually growing on the side of one clam (xenia will grow anywhere!). It didn't seem to cause any problems except that when it would disturb the "mantle area" of the clam they would tend to close up.
So I'd try and make sure it doesn't...
The one thing you'd have to watch if using an Aqua Medic Reefdoser for this type of application is their nasty habit of creating a siphon in the tubes and continuing to deliver water/solution when turned off.
They weren't really created to be run where there is pressure on the line like a...
CBBs are hit or miss (seems more like miss) and many people can't keep them alive. Peppermint shrimps seem to be the more favored approach and they tend to not die quickly like the CBBs do for many people.
Just my $0.02,
