I have sinularia, devils hand, nepthia, cabbage, finger and another one ( can't remember the name) in my 75g with no problems so far, but was told that they secrete toxins /at war with other leathers and that i should run carbon- any and all info is appreciated
I have a toadstool that split into 3, the smallest one let go and is (hopefully) somewhere in the tank. The other 2 are still attached at the head, can they be cut apart, or do I need to wait until they finally separate
My wall of gsp has reached the top and is about to breathe air,. It's on acrylic and easy to slice and remove- finger size sections available. I can attach it to plastic or leave it free floating for rock attaching. I'm in Chester
I have this sponge that looks like tree roots, it used to be in the DT and I was able to get rid of it, now it's in the sump, was all over my graciallis, so it took it out and exposed it to air which is sup[posed to kill sponges- didn't happen, is there anything that eats sponges or a way to kill it
I have a green nepthia that's doing great and want to frag it- there are a couple of 'arms' that are thicker in the middle and a bunch of smaller ones ( pencil thickness) on the sides- what's the best way to frag it
I've had amphipods in my tanks since I bought my first live rock. It' only in the last year that I got into copepods. Other than being a good food source, they are a part of the cuc. Tisbe, Tigger and apex ( apocyclops ) seem to be the best in seeding/ maintaining a population in a tank...
Looking to fill out my tank
I'm in Chester NJ- cash is fine, I have some corals for trade, can post pics- watermelon mushrooms, toadstools, lemon tip clove polyps, sunkist bounce, orange mushroom
My nitrates are about 2.5, my phosphates were 4.9 a week ago- I started running PhosGuard and now they are at 4.0- my corals (softies) and fish are fine- was told on R2R not to chase numbers- should I leave things be, or is there anything I can do to get my numbers more in line
I tip my hat to those who have the vision of what their tank will look like down the road and can glue their rocks together and mount the corals where they will live comfortably. I can do that with landscaping, but not in a reef tank- can't tell you how many times I've re-scaped my tank for...
Just got my HR Hanna tester and it said my nitrates are under range- even did the test twice. I also did a test with Salivert and the results said 25- I assume that the Hanna is correct- I've been dosing NoPoX- guess I should cut back on the dosing- I have the LR Nitrate kit- will check with...
I jus got a couple. I thought that they were smaller than emeralds- not so, they are related to decorator crabs- mine have put sand on their backs so far- they also seem to prefer the sand bed to rock and stay in the open- I barely ever see my emerald- got right to work
I know that they are necessary food for some fish, I find that it's great to have them in the tank when introducing many fish, and even after getting the fish to take to frozen and flakes it's nice to have them as a supplement (also part of the cuc). I noticed that my fish haven't been picking...
I was looking into adding to my cuc and saw cleaners, then when searching I noticed that little neck clams are in this group. Wondering if Little neck clams would work in a reef tank- or would one need to get tropical cleaner clams
