I noticed right away, that there is going to be a color difference. The Blue tort has a purple hue to it under these lights, it actually looked like a magenta color if I turned the blue off on the old fixture. Since there is no optics or lenses on the LED's, there is a good blend of the colors...
In your case I'd go with the single reactor. It would probably be best to mix your GAC and GFO together in a ratio of about 2 parts GAC to 1 part GFO, this way the GFO won't need to tumble, and you'll get better use from it. I also think you'd be better off in the future with individual...
I've always had to mount the fixtures into my canopy lid, so they are no more than ~ 5" off the surface of the water. The first set of LED's I installed were 120 degree lenses, and were fine. I think you may get a better blend of light if you're using a full spectrum fixture without any optics...
Latest installment, as George mentioned is an Aquabeauty 105W from eshine (G5), the previous was the eshine G4 mould 2 series. The T-5 was a 6 lamp TEK fixture, supplemented with some Ecoxotic stunners and Panorama's. The first LED's were Blueline 120W supplemented with a couple Ecoxotic...
Thanks George. I haven't programmed these lights yet, so what you're seeing is the default setting right out of the box(everything is at 100%). It has a built in controller, so I still have to set everything, including the ramping times.
I just installed my 5th set of lights on this tank(since 2005). Here is a pictorial sequence, starting with the latest fixtures:
These are good lights, but the optics were too tightly focused for the height I had to work with.
My attempt at T-5's.
My first LED's. These were good...
Not to be critical of ESV, I'm sure it's a fine product, and works well. Here is an analysis I did using the pharmaceutical grade chemicals from BRS:
1 gallon of dry Calcium Chloride is $17.09 @ BRS. Using recipe #1 it yields about 7 gallons of solution which works out to $2.40 per gallon...
By "off" do you mean your gate valve is closed? I don't have a RO, but I believe they all work the same, the more I close my water discharge (gate valve), the higher the water gets in my reaction chamber, and if too high it will begin to overflow into the cup.
I don't see any significant difference in the tank, but my meter show a higher pH, by about .2, i.e. instead of 7.8 to 8.1 it's about 8 in the AM to 8.3 in the PM.
It appears I'm getting about a week out of a full cartridge. According to the BRS web site, you're supposed to get 7 refills out of 9 lbs. of the media. Using these numbers, I should get about 29 refills out of a bucket of the media from Wayfair. The cost works out to around $4.00 per week, in...
I make about 25 gal. per week, for top off and WC's on a 180. I replace my sediment about every 3 month's, my carbon block about every 6 month's, and my DI resin about once a year. My current unit is about 3 years old, and I have yet to replace the membrane. The quality of your raw water will...
