I had previously thought the Clarkii were a medium aggressive fish (clown wise) but was just reading an old mag (Tropical Fish May 2004) and it said that the Clarkiis are the most aggressive of the clown fish.
I'm not sure what that's worth but since I've been able to get the pair of clarkies...
Wendy don't go to crazy on adding snails to your tank. Remember that your tank can only support so much of each kind of animal. Once the snails take care of the problem at hand they can run out of their food source and may start to die off.
Beautiful pics btw.

Is the skimmer the primary means of aeration in the tank? It could very well be that the O2 levels went down in the tank when the skimmer pump failed. That's one possibility.
Why don't you tell us a little more about your setup and what you have running.

Phyl just pointed out something very important. If you drill in the middle (anywhere but the top) you have to know the sump will flood and drain the tank if you don't artificially raise the water level with the stand pipes. Basically where ever the hole or stand pipe is will be the water level...
I think I'd want to take the pump apart and look for other signs of rust. Rust is something you don't want in a saltwater tank. If the insides look good maybe you can just change out the screws to something that won't rust. Probably only the screws in your case are a concern. A trip to HD or...
NJ is very pretty and has a lot to offer. But as everyone else has pointed out the taxes are killer and auto insurance is very high. The good part I will mention is the housing market. NJ is one of the fastest/highest ROI states to buy a house in. By that I mean the $200K you pay for the house...
Thanks guys for the support. Yep I got off pretty easy all things considered. It almost seemed like the Judge "felt sorry" for everything that happened leading up to the tickets. For whatever it's worth he also made sure the record showed the DWI wasn't due to alcohol but a combination of...
Actually they sort of school together. The true and false percs can often times be seen swimming together. Both of these pairs typically (in my tank) mix and match. It seems 2 are always nearby swimming together but sometimes a true and false perc swim together. The Clarkiis don't do this and...
That is an excellent, really well written article on pH. It may be a little technical for the average user but well worth a read or two!
The trick to pH IMHO is to get everything else stable and where it should be and then run through the "checklist" of items mentioned in that article. My gut...
Sounds good. Once we get your alk down to acceptable levels we can balance your calcium and mag (if needed) and then tackle the cause of your PH problem.
BTW, I don't recall if I mentioned it or not but don't add any "PH down" or "alk lower" type products since that will come back to haunt us...
Not waiting any longer. After talking to the prosecutor 5 tickets were dropped and only the DWI stuck since I agreed to plead no contest. I got the minimum 3 months for it.
Since my car was totalled I turned in the rental today so I do try and sneak a drive in to the store or something. I don't...
Six line is a very good choice as other have mentioned. If you like the wrasses have you checked out the 4 and 8 lines also? I still can't believe your Mandarin jumped out of the tank. I wonder if he got pushed? :)

The manderin jumping is highly unusual. I've never heard of that before. I didn't even think they could move fast enough to jump like that!
I would try a green manderin (again).
I'm off to court at 12:30 today for the charges mentioned in the above thread. Wish me luck as I'm going to need it. :( Hopefully I will only loose my license for 3 months and not up to the 24 months that is possible! Man this stinks.

I think I got ya but I wouldn't do that if I were you. It's to confusing and then you can't control a fan or chiller easily that way. Just plug your two heaters into the same outlet on the DC8 using an adapter or extension cord with multiple outlets on it. This will save you a DC8 outlet anyway...
It very well could be but I'd doubt a quart here or there is going to do raise it much even if it was off the chart.
It's possible we could be fighting a dead horse. I would suggest either picking up a decent alk test kit that will give you numbers (if yours doesn't do this) and/or taking a...
What do you mean both HET and COL are 2 heaters? HET should be your heaters and COL should be fans or chillers. If you have heater on COL then you are running your heaters basically all the time.
Or did I just read what you typed incorrectly?
