I had a frag tank that was bare bottom. Then I changed it to a shallow reef and added sand to the tank while running. I just rinsed the sand with water and poured it in the water was cloudy for a little bit but that was it no problems after that.
I want to mount some frags to the back glass of my nano. I was thinking of gluing some ceramic magnets to frag plugs so I can move them around. I did some reading and ceramic magnets are suppose to be reef safe. Just seeing if anyone is using them on here before I try it. I bought some off...
I use to use rox carbon but you can buy bituminous carbon in bulk for much cheaper and it does the same thing. Rox might work faster and have a little less dust but is it worth the extra money.
My brother-in-law tried it didn't work out too well. They started killing each other but its was only a 40 gallon breeder. I thing it can work if you get them young and the tank is bigger like a 75 gallon or so.
