Yellow porites. One of the first sps I ever kept and probablly the only true yellow stony coral. If you ever wanted to get into hard coral its one of the easier types. Even sheds like a leather too.
it’s impossible to get the full one off since the are encrusted on the rock by the base. Do you have experience fragging these guys? The ribbons don’t do as well and when they die back they don’t leave any skeleton for the horses to latch onto like some of the thicker gorgonians. Basically...
I have some other stuff laying around like star polyps and zoanthids. I am sure I can find something. I am a pretty advanced hobbyist with a ton of coral predominately sps. This is my main display.
Paul, have you tried masstick? Usually once a fish hits that age and stops eating it's time is up. The fish doesnt really look emanciated and still has fat reserve behind its head.
I think it's just the tip iceberg. Cant wait to see how little bacteria is actually in all these supplements people are buying. W po uldnt it be interesting if all these problems (e.g dino's) can be solved by just adding some real live rock to your system?
I dont. My tank is running pretty good. I was more concerned with some of the fish and coral pathogens. This is really the first way we can actually test for it on a high level.
For those that like to know what's lurking in your tank and the overall flora that keeps everything alive I suggest checking out a company called Aquabiomics. I just got my report back on my tank. Very interesting stuff.
Mine split and was able to get the small one out of the tank. I damaged the mouth a bit but should be okay. It's free to a good home. I am in Eatontown. Will give it an hour so and I will take to the LFS.
