Many of my colonies started from frags I got from Rich. He has a beautiful set up, and has exercised great care and meticulous husbandry of this system. I know this is hard for him to do.

I had the marina pull the boat, so it was an abrupt end to my season. I did take a run up to Little Egg Inlet looking for Stripers the week before, but the water was still too warm. I didn't have them re launch it because the docks were gone.
That about sums it up. The Purple NaNa has a very purple tip going down to a white area, before turning tan toward the bottom. When I see the white area starting to turn tan, I know that my PO4 is on the rise, and it's near time to replace the GFO.
I'm using the BRS HC GFO in one of their reactor's, with an MJ600 pump. I replace it when my PO4 gets to about .05 on a Hanna meter, and my Purple NaNa starts getting a little tan at its base, about every two month's. I use the prefilters on both the GAC and GFO pumps, to help keep the internal...

If it's the size of my 55, I only have 11"D x 42"W x 22"H total, inside the cabinet to work with, so, like the old carpenter's saying, "measure twice, cut once".
If you're going to place it in a cabinet, it might be a little hard to work on/in. The footprint of many skimmers may not fit either, along with their optimum operating depth.
