    Brian Conger

Word comes that Brian Conger has died at the very young age of 49. I don't know how many people in the club remember Brian, but some of the first NJ Reefers v.1.0 meetings were held at his house in Dunellen. He had a pioneering cultured coral business, Atlantis Aquatics, and he sold me some of...

    Hydroids?

I suffered a lot with the other kind of hydroids, that look like dandelions, myronemia. I never found anything that would eat them --copperbands won't -- and the only thing that works is physical removal or total darkness for a couple months.

Re: NJRC Clownfish Squishy Thing I mounted it with velcro to the top of my monitor at The Bank. Gives me a smile whenever I glance at it.

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

Drilling the Sump The return pump I have needs a 2" inlet, so I got a 2" bulkhead and somewhere I figured out I would need an 85mm glass drill to make the hole (thank you, ebay seller lauII). I mounted my pump on a board with bolts, backed that up with some open-cell rubber foam for sound...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

The drains go behind the washer and dryer, you can see them on the left: and they comes out here: Here's the back-end bench. The sump is going underneath. You can see the elbow for the return up over the pegboard: I want the skimmer, CA reactor and refugium to be on top of the bench, along...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

Well, you asked for it. I think this is going to be less impressive than a Britney Spears spelling test, but here goes. This is the tank as it stands today. Like everything in my house, it has started to accumulate junk. I have spent more on PVC from Savko and Aquatic Eco than I did on my first...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

I haven't been making a lot of progress with my setup, for a number of reasons, so I thought that tracking my progress here might help my motivation a little. It was gonna be all set up by MACNA.... My new tank was built by Glasscages to my specs. It's 65X30X25, with a horizontal overflow. It...

responsibility of stores with marine display tanks

Back when there were more of the Rainforest Cafe places, I was unhappy to see the condition of the fish in their fancy trick aquariums. HLLE was on the menu every time! Makes it hard to feel good about the place. Maybe we should compile a list of restaurants with aquariums that don't make you...

    Mounting Dart pump

Brian: Yeah, the valve-union is a good idea, got one ready, but it's hard plumbed right, no flex PVC or hose? Phyl: How's the noise level?

    Mounting Dart pump

Brian, did you make a hard plumbed connection or is there a piece of something flexible between the pump and the bulkhead?

    Mounting Dart pump

I am getting ready to mount my Sequence Dart pump in preparation for drilling holes in the sump for bulkheads yadda yadda. I noticed that the pump has slots so you can bolt it to something and I thought it might be a good idea to bolt it to a li'l piece of wood and back that up with a couple...
