I did read that thread, and I didn't want to comment about it because I wanted an answer to my simple question. But, here you are, with your 2 cents and everything.
Yes, that was an excellent observation in that thread. I WAS going to tie into my return for the spraybar feed, and it IS an...
I am making a combination rock support and spraybar out of 3/4" PVC. I'm drilling the holes right through both sides. What's a good size for spraybar holes? I did some test holes at 1/4" but that seems awful large. My main concern is avoiding eventual clogging of the holes.
I broke one 10 gallon tank and some sheet glass getting the hang of it. You need to be supporting the weight of the drill with your hand and let just a little pressure fall on the drilling site.
Back in the day I knew a guy with Majanos who gave up and bought a racoon butterfly, it took them all out in a couple weeks. I don't know if he'd leave the frogspawn alone. The sunburst fly is supposed to like majanos as well.
Absolutely Fish has a bunch of nice acros in stock, I was by there today. They have a bright red pistol shrimp that is about 1/4" long, about twice the size of a grain of rice. $39!
Well, I didn't feel like dropping $300 on an acrylic sump anyway, so my friendly LFS owner talked me into buying a 40 breeder, which is a very good size for a sump. ($90) It's lower and wider than the 50 I was using, and no brace.
So I started to drill it with my 85mm glass bit. I got about...
I bought my drills from an ebay seller named LauII. His stuff is good quality, cheap, but will only last for a few holes.
If he doesn't have the size you want posted on ebay, just email him, he can get any size, as long as it's in MM.
I was in the area today visiting some friends, so I stopped by...
It was GREAT, the best "public" reef I've ever seen outside of an LFS.
I was there around 5:30, the folks behind the counter were very nice and invited me and my 11-year old son back to see the tank.
There's a lot to look at...
Oh, my sails still have wind in them. Sadly, they're not attached to a boat anymore. I woke up this morning and I was hoping it was all a bad dream.
I'm going to redirect for a little while I wait for a new sump. I need to mount up my new RO unit and build a lighting rack out of aluminum rails...
Oh @#$%, a setback!
Well, I was finishing the drain plumbing to the sump, and I slid that big 50Gallon right into the wall, bulkhead first! It's busted. Then I slid it back and cracked the other end. After all my @^#^%#* work. Arrrgh!. >:( I feel like tossing my cookies.
Time to call RichT...
I have some pretty big investments, and I have lost (and made!) a fair amount of money in my time. These days I mostly stick to large cap stocks, mostly blue chip names, that pay dividends. That 3 or 4 percent is a lot better than NOTHING which you get from a dragging NASDAQ stock. I have a...
Return pump is fitted in and glued. Man, I thought an 8' long bench would be huge, but with the 50G sump, I still had to angle the intake out of the sump so the pump was perpendicular to the tank. And those 2" elbows are not tight turns.
Luckily the pumps lined up pretty well with the bulkheads...
It's not even Aquatronics, it's Aqua-something-else! It's old, but it still gets cold. I am going to use the 600 GPH figure as my minimum. I was hoping to feed it off the manifold in my new setup, but I don't think the 1/2" outlets will do 600GPH.
