Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
There are some snails that will help graze some of it off and help to keep it under control, to include: Cerith, Nerite and Margarita's, but they need to have a fighting chance. So, having a good clean up crew is one component of dealing with it, in the short and long run.
Five gallon buckets...
I mix up some kalkwasser mix with RO water and hit them with a syringe. Get some true peppermint shrimp(Lysmata wurdemanni), they should take care of any you can't see, and keep them in check.
You should get one set of the filters you'll need with whatever you purchase. I did notice that AWI is offering a complete set of additional filters for $1.00 with your purchase. And, since they're a club sponsor you'll still get the 10 discount.

When was the last time you had the skimmer apart? I'd take the pump apart too, and check the pin wheel impeller, along with the venturi and hoses. You might run it in a vinegar solution for a few hours too. Check the level of water it's sitting in, and make sure it's around the manufacturer's...
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix, all these issues (HA, Cyano, Dino's, diatoms) are a result of the same problem...excess nutrients, i.e. nitrates, phosphates, etc. So, the remedies would include doing more water changes, using good water. "The solution to pollution is dilution". Aggressive...
OK, that's and AquaC Ramora skimmer, nice unit, but undersized for your system. Do you have room in your sump for a skimmer?
If you have to go with a hang on, here's one that you can get with the current group buy and will be a good replacement...
What kind of Tangs do you have? How big? Unless they are of the Bristletooth variety, your tank is too small. I don't see anything about phosphate, and flake food is notorious for adding it to your tank. You might consider switching to something like New Life Marine Formla Spectrum pellets. Are...
Not only is it the same salt (RC), but it's the same batch. So, I ruled that out early. I'm pretty well convinced that its the difference in the light fixture. I'm hoping that it will grow back.
This is all I have, and it works great.
One caveat with the RO/DI unit. If you are using well water, you will have to have about 60psi at your tap for it to work properly, if not you may have to get a booster pump...
Yea, between the two possibilities, I was thinking it could be the light. But, I went from a MH fixture to the LED's with no noticeable change in the coraline, this has been dramatic.
