I have the Dremel 'Saw Max'- and use it mostly for other things- wood, acrylic etc- but works fine on coral/ rocks- stone or diamond blades work- diamond lasts longer. You can save some $ and buy a refurbished one on ebay I think the 'dremel' sold at Harbor freight is actually a knock off-

The first chamber is 4"x 5"x depth- Chaeto grows fine with the strip light- yeah, the chaeto collects a bunch. I also have sponges growing in that chamber. You could top it off with a pad, I just found that the foam clogged up too fast- I find that having it in the second and third work better...

    Sponges

I've read conflicting things about sponges- pineapple are fine, other's may clog a system, they won't live long because they need finer particles etc Mine have been thriving. This type did clog my media in the sump, so I removed it, but are growing fine on the glass in the sump of the 40g- these...

    Sponges

I have pineapple and 'branch' sponges in my sump- no problem, but just noticed some of the branch/ root looking sponges in my 13g. Should I remove them, will they become a problem- does anyone want any lol

    In tank sumps/ AIO's

First of all, I'm the original Cheap/ DIY guy lol. I save/ re use/ recycle just about everything- nice that you can get your hands on acrylic- I don't dumpster dive :D I would certainly use the clear as partitions- I also don't trust myself drilling a tank- I tried cutting glass once- didn't go...

    In tank sumps/ AIO's

I hadn't thought about using clear acrylic and painting it, don't know how the paint will hold up, but I have read that scuffed acrylic will grow algae faster. I'll stick to black for now- not that expensive. I use coarse/ medium (20-30ppi ) foam instead of pads- easy to clean and re use- I...

    Wondering what's going on.

I've also noticed that coralline prefers plastic/acrylic to glass. I have it growing on my wave makers, heater and acrylic overflow and not on the glass- could black attract it?

    Wondering what's going on.

I tried once with no growth at all, tried brushing/ scraping it off plugs with similar results, also added a piece of live rock completely encrusted in it- when it's ready to grow it will. Also if you dip or spray plugs/ rock with peroxide it kills the coralline

    Wondering what's going on.

I don't if there is a way to speed up coralline growth, but I do know the bottles of coralline are a waste of money- it seems to a a timeline of it's own

    Nuisance Algae

Starting to think I just have too many tanks- one is going- the 30l when I get the 75 up and running, maybe I'll combine the 40b with the 30 for the 75- will have to rehome a couple of chromis and a pink damsel- think all the other fish will work out in the same tank- I won't have to make as...
