Seahorses and soft corals make a great combination. As for a basic set up you can run a simple HOB skimmer, power filter or both. Can even go with a simple sump design. Just remember to break the flow up so as not to blow the seahorses all over the tank. I run my tanks in the 6-8x turnover area...
What species of dwarf lion is it? Got any pictures? The reason I ask is because if you got a dwarf zebra lion there is a really good chance that it's not a dwarf but rather an antennata lion. All the supposed dwarf zebras that have come in lately are misidentified.

I used a heat gun. You can try a hair dryer but not sure if it would get hot enough.
Just be sure to do it in a well ventilated area. Heating PVC releases so pretty nasty fumes.
I have never heard of them picking at SPS, but they do nest in SPS corals and just their nesting behaviour alone can irritate the coral to the point of killing part of it off.
