I rubberband a toothbrush to the end of a siphon hose to collect algae, cyano, etc. Most times I'll have my wife hold the other end of the hose in the sump, in a mesh filter sock.
Did you test your make up water with the calibrated refracto? I would before doing such a large WC.
+1
An auto top-off is one of the least talked about but most useful pieces of equipment in reefing. The Tunze is a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion. I've had mine going for about...
I would just start the fixture higher above the tank. Gradually lower the fixture until you reach the recommended height. I started mine about 12" from the water surface, then lowered the fixture an inch a week for three weeks. Nine inches above the water is good for me but I do not keep SPS.
I alternate between LRS reef frenzy and PE mysis. All of my fish seem to go after both foods. I plan to throw some Rod's into the rotation as well.
EDIT: When I feed PE mysis, I also throw in a half cube of Cyclopeeze or Omega One oyster eggs.
Thanks for the replies so far guys!
John, I'm running the SRO 1000 INT right now. I think it would be too small to handle the 120. With a bigger tank, I'll certainly be adding more fish.
I plan on upgrading from a 75 to a 120 in about a year. So I am starting to plan the tank out now. First order of business is choosing a skimmer. After reading a bunch of reviews, I'm leaning towards the Aquamaxx CO-2. Thoughts? Any other suggestions?
